Culprit mite
Definition
 Scabies is a pruritic , contagious disease of the skin
  caused by mite,sarcoptes scabii var. hominis clinically
  c harcterised by papulovesicular lesion at the typical
  sites and charecteristic burrow.
Common sites
 Fingerwaves,flexors of the wrist,medial border of the
 forearm,anticubital fossa,axilla,nipple &areola(female)
 ,periumbilical region,anterior and medial aspect of
 thigh,genitalia(male).buttock.
Mode of transmission
 direct : skin to skin contact
 indirect:clothings,beddings,towels. etc
Clinical feature
1.   Intense itching at night.but at day time it is tolarlable
     but persistant.
     2. Other members of the family may be affected
diagnosis
  Clinical feature & direct visualisation of mite ,eggs or
   feces under microscope(scraping materials from
   burrow)
complications
 1.secondary bacterial infection 2.eczematisation
 3.AGN 4. exfoliative dermatitis 5 urticaria 6.
 acarophobia
treatment
 If complication present.treat the complication first.
 Antihistamines
 scabicidal drugs:1)topical 2)systemic
 topicals: 1)5% permethrin 2)25% benzyl benzoate
 3)25%monosulfirum 4)1% gamma benzene
 hexachloride5)10% crotamiton
 systemic : Ivermectin (200micro gm /kg body wt
 single dose)
