3. Definition
Scabies is a pruritic , contagious disease of the skin
caused by mite,sarcoptes scabii var. hominis clinically
c harcterised by papulovesicular lesion at the typical
sites and charecteristic burrow.
4. Common sites
Fingerwaves,flexors of the wrist,medial border of the
forearm,anticubital fossa,axilla,nipple &areola(female)
,periumbilical region,anterior and medial aspect of
thigh,genitalia(male).buttock.
5. Mode of transmission
direct : skin to skin contact
indirect:clothings,beddings,towels. etc
6. Clinical feature
1. Intense itching at night.but at day time it is tolarlable
but persistant.
2. Other members of the family may be affected
7. diagnosis
Clinical feature & direct visualisation of mite ,eggs or
feces under microscope(scraping materials from
burrow)
