2. THE NEED:
Every start of the school year we can
hear from the news the expanding
number of students and the depleting
number of classrooms, teachers and
educational materials such as
books, computers etc. It seems to me
that the more we encourage children
to attend traditional public schools, the
more we are depriving them of quality
education as the teachers are getting
burnt-out.
3. THE NEED:
According to surveys the average
number of students nowadays are
ranging from 80-90 per classroom. As a
teacher how can you handle 80-90
students in more or more different
sections? How can you get to know them
personally? And how can you finish your
lesson in just 1 hour when most of your
lesson time is spent in catching your
students attention? These are just the few
of the many problems that the Phillipine
educational system are facing. How can
we use technology for our
advantage? And can we get the most out
of it?
4. MY PHILOSOPHY
“Train up a child in the way he should go and
when he is old he will not depart from it”
This bible verse summed up the role of parents &
teachers (or the students In loco parentis).
Everything that a parent or teacher teaches a child
must lead them to the greatest truth, God. In light of
this bible verse, I present my philosophies in
Educational Technology.
5. EDUCATION IS FOR ALL
Education is not just for those who can
afford it. Every child/person has the right for quality
education as mandated by our constitution. That’s
why, we as teachers with the help of the Phillipine
government must explore all possible good ways to
reach-out and educate people who cannot afford to
go to a traditional school.
6. HARNESS TECHNOLOGIES POTENTIAL TO
ACCOMMODATE MORE STUDENTS WITHOUT
STRESSING THE TEACHER TOO MUCH.
Through the use of social networking sites such as
Facebook, Myspace, Google+ , etc. the teacher can
upload his lessons for the students to review or
advance read. Through the use of video streaming,
schools can accommodate more students without
even requiring the teacher to physically present.
7. EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY MUST MAKE
INFORMATION AND KNOWLEDGE MORE
ACCESSIBLE TO STUDENTS.
Schools, Teachers must seek innovative
ways to make knowledge and information more
accessible to people. Creation of more mobile
libraries, mobile computer laboratories and mobile
classrooms should be taken into consideration.
Why spend too much on traditional style of teaching
or schooling while we can reach morew illiterate
people using creative ways of dispensing
knowledge and information.
8. EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY MUST PRODUCE
THINKING HUMANS NOT PROGRAMMED
ROBOTS.
The danger of technology is that it has the
tendency to spoon-feed students. The teacher
must know how to balance the traditional ways of
teaching (together with its imperfections, toils and
challenges) with the modern advancements of
educational technology today. Our goal is to
produce thinking humans, though imperfect but has
the ability to learn from their mistakes.
9. TEACHERS MUST KNOW HOW TO USE
TECHNOLOGY FOR THEIR
ADVANTAGE, THEREFORE, ALL TEACHERS
MUST BE “MODERN TECHNOLOGY” LITERATE.
If there’s a word that would describe the
students of today, it is TECHNOLOGY. The
students today are so dependent on technology
that they don’t know how to accomplish their
assignments and projects without computers. In
order for a teacher to be relevant to their students
, a teacher must strive to know and learn the latest
technology during their time.
10. TECHNOLOGY MUST ONLY HELP TEACHER TO
ACCOMPLISH THEIR TASKS NOT TO REPLACE
THEM.
Technology in education must only be a
means for the teachers to accomplish their
tasks, the same thing with students. It must not be
an end to itself. For me, there is nothing like a
human teacher.
