This document provides instructions for the final project in the Design Visualization course. Students must design a display box to promote a toy company's miniature toy. They will present their design through A2 presentation boards showing drawings of the site and proposed display box, a photo montage, and a 1:1 scale physical model. The presentation boards must include hand drawings showing the site plan, elevations, sections, and plans and drawings of the display box. A photo montage on an A3 board should show the display box on site. The physical model must accurately fit the toy. Students will be evaluated on the completeness of their submission, the creativity and clarity of their design approach and drawings, and the appropriateness of their presentation

Introduction
As a mention in Part B the final project will concentrate on the process of ideas and the production of the
drawings and visual for presentation purposes. Still in character in Part C, students are required to prepare
presentation boards, model (prototype) and montage to convince the client of the proposed design. In this final part
students are required to draw all the required illustration by hand and to creatively produce it on boards to demonstrate
their basic skills of architectural drawings, architectural rendering and architectural graphics. They are also required to
produce photomontage and model(s) to visualise the proposal.

Objectives of Project
The objectives of this project are as follows:
To demonstrate observation and visualisation skills in a variety of ways depending on the area of specialisation
being pursued with an emphasis on the process of drawing.
To develop confidence to use drawing as a means of communication to express two dimensional and three
dimensional ideas.

2. Tasks - Methodology
Students will need to continue to imagine that they are a designer. In this imaginary situation, a toy company has
requested them to design a display box/casing to promote their miniature toy. The site to place this display box or
casing will be at the site given from Project 1B at the entrance only. Through the site analysis study, you as a
designer will then find a solution or ideas to create a suitable display box / casing to promote this toy. The client is
requesting for the followings;
a.
Maximum three A2 presentation boards with the followings details;
One plan of the entrance wall with the proposed display (scale 1/50)
The elevation(s) of the entranced wall (draw both wall if you are using both side of the wall (scale 1/50)
One section through the entrance wall cutting through the display box and the wall (to show the height,
and placement of the display box). (scale 1/50)
One plan of display box (scale 1/1 or 1/2 or 1/3* consult lecturer)
One top view of display box (scale 1/1 or 1/2 or 1/3* consult lecturer)
Front, side and back elevation of display box (scale 1/1 or 1/2 or 1/3* consult lecturer)
One section of the display box (scale 1/1 or 1/2 or 1/3* consult lecturer)
One sketched perspective of the display on site or just the display box (one point or two point) - (should
not be smaller than an A5 size it can be bigger)
Design introduction, intention/concept and design process (sketches, diagrams and annotations)
Some brief information about the site and suitable site analysis information

Photo montage of the display box/casing on site (on one A3 board) – Minimum one image A5 size

A model (1:1) – maximum 300x300x300mm
The model must be accurate to fit in the toy. This is considered as the final product.
Requirement
a.
A2 presentation boards with the followings details;
All drawings listed above are compulsory items. You may add additional drawings if necessary only.
All drawings, sketches and diagrams must be hand drawn and text to be hand written as architectural
handwriting on A2 size paper of the student choice but must.
Student may use any kind of materials and architectural technique to produce the drawing but collage
or reprinting is not acceptable.
Drawing techniques must follow the basic architectural conventions, line weight, symbols etc.
Must label all drawings and illustrations with scale and proper annotations.
Drawings must include human figures.
The A2 drawing board orientation could be all landscape or all portraits only.
Maximum 3 and minimum 2 A2 boards (must not include the photo montage).
Must give a “name” to the display and the name of the toy. (on the presentation board)
Please add your name, id number, DV FNBE April 2013 and Taylor’s logo nicely on the board.
Tips: Please refer to the DK Ching book for presentation layouts and preparation.
b.
Photo montage of the display box/casing on site (on one A3 board)
Minimum one image that will suite the A3 board (if it is only one image min size A4)
Please add your name, id number, DV FNBE April 2013 and Taylor’s logo nicely on the board.
You may choose any technique to prepare this montage.

A model (1:1) – maximum 300x300x300mm
The model must be accurate to fit in the toy. It is considered as the final product.
May use any material to make the model
Student must make their model by themselves. They should not hire anyone else to make it.
Other than the final model students may display their draft or process model.
Each student will need to verbally present their presentation. During the final presentation students should bring their
sketches and previous works to support their ideas. Students must show progress during tutorial session.
Marking criteria
Marks shall be distributed as follows: 20% total of the final marks
