3. â Bad Boyâ These covers show the artists trying to portray a âgangsterâ image, the suit and hat expresses the typical connotation of a old fashion âgangsterâ. They are trying to show they are men not to be messed with as âgangsterâ reflects an image of a hard man. The font shown in the image above is bold and bright. The bright yellow will attract customers to the CD and gives the impression that the music is bold and lively. The image has has the colours adjusted to create the black and white effect & the text has been transformed to create the slant in the text. This could easily be achieved with photoshop The font in the image to the right however is sharp and metallic looking. Which can be perceived as a threat which goes with the âgangsterâ image. It could also be perceived as calligraphy styled which could be expressing class. This image has had the colours adjusted to achieve the black and white effect
4. â Soulfulâ These covers show natural images of artists. The beyonce cover has the black and white effect & looks as if it has been lightened. Which is an effect I could achieve using Photoshop. The Craig David cover is expressing an image which makes the potential consumer want to find out about him, as he looks mysterious and troubled. All of these covers use very subtle effects to achieve the natural soulful image.
5. â Technologicalâ Most artists are portraying a technological image at the current time as it is the new most popular type of music. The Calvin Harris (top right) album has used a lively yellow to express energetic music. The font type is as you would find on a digital clock. This adds to the futuristic image. All of these images have been adapted. The Eva Simons (top left) album has used the effect of partly black and white which I could create on Photoshop, the orange mohican stands out and allows the image to appear futuristic. The Tinchy Stryder album (second from bottom right) has the main image turned numerous times and faded out to create again the futuristic effect.
6. â Bright & Colourfulâ All of these covers use bright cartoon images to express the lively exegetic styles of music. The Lilly Allen album (top left) I feel is the most interesting as the background is all animated. This effect could be created on photoshop. This cover conveys an image that she is in her own dream world. The Mika album (top right) is all animated which suits the bubbly lively genre of music. The text is very bold and the cover has a lot going on. The colours really jump out which I really like!
