Marco Polo was born in Venice, Italy in 1254. He traveled with his father and uncle along the Silk Road to China, arriving in 1275. He spent 17 years in China, serving as an envoy for Kublai Khan and traveling throughout the country. Some of his notable discoveries included paper money, eyeglasses, fireworks, and the postal system. When he returned to Venice in 1295, he dictated stories of his travels to Rustichello, which were published in a book called "The Travels of Marco Polo" and made him one of the most famous explorers.

3. WHY DID I PICK MARCO POLO
I picked Marco Polo because he travelled
to many countries and if he didn't travel
to Asia the world would not be so fun and
exciting.
Because imagine if paper money didn't
exist it would be hard to buy things.
The eyeglasses where very important to
discover because if he didn't discover them
my dad will be blind.

4. BIOGRAPHY
He was born in Venice in 1254 .
His father was a wealthy merchant who
often trade to distant lands.
Marco Polo was 17 years old he went with
his father and uncle to China,called
Cathay.It took them 3 years to get to
China.

5. THE SILK ROAD
The Silk Road went from Eastern Europe
to Northern China.
It was called the Silk Road because silk
cloth was the major export from China.
Not much people traveled the entire road
because they where scared of robbers that
stole money from the road.But Marco Polo
his Father and his Uncle wanted to do it
all tan tan tan!!!!!!!!

ships, to Persia.

years .
His father, uncle and him decided to head
back home.After a few years home, Venice
fought a war with the city of Genova and
he was put in jail .

The book became very popular and it was
