Subculture,[object Object],Subculture- is a group of people with a culture (whether distinct or hidden) which differentiates them from the larger culture to which they belong.	Ex) preps, gothic, jocks, etc.,[object Object]
My Subculture,[object Object],The strange and undefined:,[object Object],Usually not committed to any group of people, doesn’t assign to any particular trend/outfit. ,[object Object],Changes taste in oneself.,[object Object],Prefers changing appearance after ‘major’ event.,[object Object],Likes to stand out or blend in from a crowd.,[object Object],Often mistaken for labels of ‘Goth’, ‘Emo’, ‘Punk’ and more.,[object Object]
Ethnocentrism,[object Object],When I went to Blake H.S:,[object Object],. the people who were also into trying different trends and explored different styles thought they were ‘different’ and ‘better’ then all the other ‘cliques’. ,[object Object],They usually hang with people who skated and wore black skinny jeans, band t-shirts and ‘VANZ’.,[object Object]
Culture Shock,[object Object],When I transferred to PBHS:,[object Object],I saw people hanging with everyone, there were cliques but only in the Cafeteria, not much anywhere else.,[object Object],You only saw a few who wore black anything and chains but everyone colored their hair bright colors not just one group.,[object Object],Most of the people wore colorful clothing- shoes, jeans, and not one group would wear a certain  brand, everyone wore most-all brands.,[object Object]
Material Culture(Clothing, possessions, diet),[object Object],Wear different styles of clothing from different subcultures. (i.e. baggy shirts/pants, tight jeans, plaid skirt, petite sweaters, net/striped stockings, dresses etc.),[object Object],Apply make up in different ways.,[object Object],Many shoes (combat boot, pumps, sandals, sneakers, etc.),[object Object],Sometimes goes vegan.,[object Object],Recyclable products into purses, bags, etc.,[object Object]
Material Culture(Norms),[object Object],Extremely colorful make up artist,[object Object],Fashion Interest,[object Object],Wannabe trend-starter,[object Object],Materialistic,[object Object],Expensive shopper,[object Object],Trying new things,[object Object],Owning a large amount of shoes,[object Object],Able to dress ‘slum’,[object Object]
Material Culture(Folkways),[object Object],Always running late to an event,[object Object],Changes clothes multiple times,[object Object],Arrogant and/or selfish,[object Object],Obesophobic, Bacteriophobic, Autophobic,[object Object],Very Openly blunt about his/her sexuality,[object Object],Often attracted to same sex,[object Object],Creative mind,[object Object],Procrastinating,[object Object]
Material Culture(sanctions),[object Object],Thinks authority is annoying,[object Object],Other females are inferior compared to themselves,[object Object],Men are like puppies, easy to brainwash when ‘whipped’,[object Object],Every person for themselves,[object Object],Peers are immature,[object Object],Live by the motto: “boys are toys, most girls are hoes, some are your ‘whores’”,[object Object]
Material Culture(Taboos),[object Object],Betraying a friend/family,[object Object],Choosing  boys before friends,[object Object],Having old worn out clothing,[object Object],Going through a year without ‘making a fashion statement’,[object Object],Over-eating,[object Object],Tolerating ‘run-ons’ from whiney singles,[object Object],Being unhygienic,[object Object]
Non-Material Culture(Language/Slang),[object Object],‘Whores’- Friends (+),[object Object],‘Bish’- B!t@h (+),[object Object],“HarHar”- Laughing (+),[object Object],‘Thug-star’- Wannabe thugs (+),[object Object],‘Oler Babe/Baby’-Friendly greeting(+),[object Object],‘Run-on’- Complaints (-),[object Object],“ew”- response to a dirty pun,[object Object],“Hey Stranger”- Flirty greeting,[object Object]
Non-Material Culture(Gestures/Expressions),[object Object],Hand waving under chin-Hello,[object Object],Peace sign- hello,[object Object],Thumbs up- yes,[object Object],Weird lip gestures- acknowledging person’s presence.,[object Object],Pinky cross with thumbs touching- swear/promise,[object Object],Rolling the tongue- “that’s hot”,[object Object]
