1. Holly- From having knowledge from the film, Holly is a very boisterous and
tomboyish character, who has a carefree and senseless type of personality. She is
also quite opinionated and upfront about her opinion, giving her that outspoken
reputation. Her physical appearance also reflects her character outwardly,
because she has the boy cut hairstyle and is known to be a courageous one.
Sam- Sam is known to be the youngest of the group as well as the most educated.
We get the impression that she is training to be a doctor from what she has said
throughout the film. Rebecca and Sam are sisters, with her being the youngest,
she craves that freedom and independence although she appreciates her sisters
care. Arguably you could say that Sam is the most feminine one, as when she
screams for help she does it in a way which can be stereotyped to be girly and
high pitched.
Rebecca- Throughout the movie, Rebecca has more of an authoritive and
responsible role, as she looks after her younger sister. She can be seen to be
quite possessive over Sam and always looking out for her best intentions. The
audience gets the impression that she is also the eldest and the more sensible
and mature one when in the cave.
Juno- Although Juno is not the protagonist, she is the alpha female and the more
dominant one of the group. She has the role of leading and directing the group.
She could also be called spontaneous and outgoing as well as daring because she
purposely leaves the map and deceives the girls by lying to them about their
location. The audience know her to be the betrayer and the one who finds it hard
to accept her fault and wrongdoings (when she kills Beth).

2. Sarah- Sarah is the protagonist of the group, who everybody likes and respects
due to her loss. She has come from tragedy and tried to put that behind her with
the support of her friends, particularly Beth. Sarah has a turn of events when she
has to turn animalistic and dangerous in order to survive the death of the cave.
She is the strongest of the girls because she has encountered losing her husband
and child, as well as surviving the cave and having the option of life or death,
compared to others who didn’t have a choice.
Beth- Beth is the closest character to Sarah and acts as a comforter and shield for
her. She is the only thing that keeps Sarah stable and moving forward. An
example of this is when she is in trapped in the cave and Beth is the only who
tries to carry her through it, and ends up saving her life. Beth is a key figure in
the relationship between Juno and Sarah also, as she is the one who warns her of
Juno and exploits what happened between Juno and Paul. Beth is a strong fighter
and survivor who tries to battle through no matter the circumstance. This is seen
when she has been brutally murdered by Juno, but still tries to stay alive in order
to inform her best friend.
