Authors purpose

     By: Ella
EQ: What is the authors purpose for
           writing a story?
• There are 3 reasons why an author writes a
  story.
• 1. to persuade
• 2. to inform
• 3.to entertain
• When you think of authors purpose think of a
piece of pie!!! Think about it. It spells PIE. P=
  persuade, I= inform, E= entertain
• Authors purpose lets you know why that
author sat down and wrote the book. When
the author writes to entertain he or she writes
it to make the reader laugh or be entertained!
When the author writes to inform the reader
about something, they are writing to give the
reader facts and information about a topic. If
the author writes to persuade the reader
about something he or she wants to persuade
  them to do something.
try to see if guess why the author
         wrote these next texts!!!!
• Good luck!!!

• GO ON
Tigers should be saved
• Tigers are endangered. They are being hunted
for their fur so that’s why I think we should
help them. You can donate online for them or
join an club. That’s why I think everybody
  should help save tigers.

• did the author write to persuade, entertain,
  or inform.
That’s right to persuade!!!!
Fish
• Fish are creatures that can only survive in the
water. Fish lay eggs just like birds, reptiles,
and amphibians. They have gills that help
them breath underwater. The gills are like
  lungs to us.
• by: Ella Templeton
• Did the author write to persuade, entertain, or
  inform?
You hit it right on the head!!! It is to
                inform!
The hamburger
• One day I went outside to check on the
cooking burgers and they came alive!!! I
fought them with a knife and then they were
finnally dead. Beware these evil burgers!!!
