1. GERMINATION
GERMINATION is when a
ROOT
and a SHOOT
i begin
to grow out from the
SEED .
This is the beginning of a
new plant !!
2. SEEDS
SEEDS have different parts : SEED
COAT (which covers the seed) and
the HILUM (where the seeds was
attached to the mother plant)
After germination, the first root
emerges (RADICLE), the seed
coat softens and splits and the
COTYLEDONS (or seed leaves
which contain food for the new
seedling) begin to expand.
3. CONDITIONS NEEDED FOR
SEED GERMINATION
SEEDS remain dormant or inactive until
CONDITIONS are RIGHT for
GERMINATION.
All SEEDS need
WATER
OXYGEN
and proper TEMPERATURE
in order to GERMINATE.
Some SEEDS require proper LIGHT also.
SOME germinate better in FULL LIGHT
while others require DARKNESS to
germinate.
