3. What are robots?
• “A robot is a mechanised tool that reacts in a
controlled manner to given commands and it often has a
sense for the environment in which it operates. It
doesn’t have to be like the Terminator, humanoids are
just one class of robots. An XY robot that draws on a
piece of paper in 2D or an autonomous car that
drives through the desert or through an urban
neighbourhood is still a robot.
They come in all shapes, manners and sizes.”
