1. JHC CUP
CONTEST RULES AND MECHANICS
GENERAL GUIDELINES:
1. All private and public high schools in Nueva Ecija are entitled to join the contest.
2. It is a group competition composed of three members (of any year level).
3. It consists of three rounds – easy, average and difficult, which will be composed of 15
questions per round. Every correct answer shall be given three (3), five (5), seven (7)
points respectively for each round.
4. The coverage of the contest are the following:
General Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics)
Mathematics (Geometry, Algebra and Trigonometry)
History
English
Filipino
General Information (may come from Encyclopedia, Readers’ Digest, World
Almanac, leading newspapers, internet and other media information).
5. Answers must be written in the answer boards to be provided by the facilitators.
6. Questions for the previous number should be raised before the Quiz Master proceeds to
the next question; otherwise, it will not be entertained.
7. A clincher question shall be given shall be given to break the tie, if there is any. The first
one who got the correct answer will be declared as the winner.
8. Participants are not allowed to use any identifying marks (i.e. school I.D. etc.) of their
school as well as in any part of their output during the contest.
9. Personal data and school affiliation of the participants shall not be made available to the
judges to ensure impartially of their decisions. Numbers will be assigned to the
participants.
10. Winners will receive:
1st place – gold medal + certificate + trophy
2nd place – silver medal + certificate + trophy
3rd place – bronze medal + certificate + trophy
11. Non-winning participants will receive a certificate of participation.
2. Essay Writing Contest (English)
1. The contest is open to all high school students in their respective school.
2. Each participating school must have one participant only.
3. The topic will be given 15 minutes before the start of the contest.
4. The criteria for judging are the following:
Content 30%
Language 30%
Organization and Mechanics 25%
Overall Impact 15%
Total 100%
5. Participants will be given one (1) hour to write their entries.
6. The winners will receive the following prizes:
1st place – gold medal + certificate
2nd place – silver medal + certificate
3rd place – bronze medal + certificate
7. Non-winners will receive a certificate of participation.
Essay Writing Contest (Filipino)
8. The contest is open to all high school students in their respective school.
9. Each participating school must have one participant only.
10. The topic will be given 15 minutes before the start of the contest.

Poster Making Contest
1. The contest is open to all high school students in their respective school.
2. Each participating school must have one participant only.
3. The theme will be given 15 minutes before the contest proper.
4. All participants should bring their own pencils, a box of colored chalk (colors to be used
will be announced before the contest starts) and ¼ illustration board.
5. The criteria for judging:

6. Participants will be given one hour to finish their piece.
7. The winners will receive the following prizes:

4. Slogan Writing
1. The contest is open to all high school students in their respective school.
2. Each participating school must have one participant only.
3. The theme will be given 15 minutes before the start of the contest.
4. All participants should bring a box of coloring material (any coloring materials), black
pentel pen and a pencil.

1. The contest is open to all high school students in their respective school.

3. Participants must bring their own minus-one (CD only 1 week before the contest)

4. Participants will be given a maximum of 5 minutes to perform.
