2. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the activity the
students are expected to:
1. Apply the steps in making an
operations chart.
2. Realize the importance of
considering the cost saving in
the operation level.
3. Apply the basic planning
functions.
3. Identify the parts that are going to be
manufactured and those that are going to
purchased complete.
Determine the operations required to
fabricate each part and the sequence of
these operations.
Determine the sequence of assembly, both
buyout and fabricated parts.
Find the base part. This is the first part that
starts the assembly process. Put that part
on a horizontal line. At the far right top of
the page. On a vertical line extending down
from the right side of the horizontal line,
place a circle for each operation.
4. Beginning with the first operation, list all
operations down to the last operations.
Place the second part to the left of the first
part, and so forth until all manufactured
parts are listed across the top of the page
in reverse order of assembly. All of the
fabrication steps are listed below the parts,
with a circle representing each operation.
Draw a horizontal line from the bottom of
the last operation of the second part to the
first part just below its final fabrication
operation and just above the first assembly
operation.
5. Depending on how many parts the first
assembler puts together, the 3rd, 4th, etc.
parts will flow into the first part’s vertical
line, but always above the assembly circle
for the assembly operation.
Introduce all buyout parts on horizontal
lines above the assembly operation circle
where they are placed on the assembly.
Put time standards, operation
numbers, and operation descriptions next
to and in the circle.
Sum total the hours per 1,000 units and
place these total hours at the bottom right
under the last assembly or pack out
operation.
7. COSTING
Chip board = 7php
Gift wrapper = 19php
Ribbon = 8php per meter
Scotch tape = 5php
TOTAL = 39php
8. STEPS IN GIFT WRAPPING
MAKING A BOX
Measure the dimensions of the gift and
give an allowance about 1inch.
Reflect the dimensions in the chip board
and adjust the dimensions about half an
inch for the cover.
Mark the sides of the chip board with
scissors that will serve as the edges of the
box.
Fold the sides and marked edges, then cut
the edges.
Put the tapes on the box.
Place the gift and close the box.
9. WRAPPING
Put the box at the center of the wrapper.
Cut the wrapper that the flaps would be 2
inches in excess, long enough to cover the
gift box.
One edge should be brought to the center
and taped down.
The second edge should overlap the first
one and be taped down.
The ends need to be folded in a manner
that triangular-shaped flaps are formed.
The flaps should be taped on the box to
close the short ends.
10. APPLYING TOUCHES
Cut the edges of the ribbon in a
Tie a ribbon around the box.
The ribbon should first be wrapped
lengthwise to the box followed by twisting
at the seam.
Wrap the ribbon width-wise.
Tie the ribbon in a bow-shape.
triangular-shape.
Write a dedication.
Place the dedication card and taped down.
