4. • As a new generation it is become known that
it is “awkward” to have a one on one
conversation (Boswell, 2012)
• Even talking on the phone is starting to
become a challenge
• Younger generations mainly socializes
through electronic devices therefore it feels
unnatural for children to just go knock on
their friends door to hang out; they would
rather send a text message
5. • Texting lacks a personal
touch
• Personalities are getting lost
within the message
• Messages can be
misconstrued very easily
6. Newer generations are more comfortable communicating via technology resulting in lack of
proper means of communication, social skills, and personalities
7. • Infertility rates are increasing; most cases in
resulting in young males (Agarwal, Deepinder,
Makker, 2007)
• Most males carry their cell phones in their pant
pocket, causing permanent damage to the male
reproductive system
• EMWs are emitted from the cellphone and
causing a larger fluctuation of temperature that
the testicles are not used to
8.
9. • Technology takes away jobs from future employees (Bolton,
2001)
• Employers are replacing their employees with robots which can
be cheaper for the company but it does take away jobs from
people within communities
• Robots are leaving actual human beings jobless, and which is
causing financial hardship
10. • Technology affects our social skills, therefore
people are not communicating within their
community (Bolton, 2001)
• Instead of getting to know their neighbours
personally, people would rather use social
media resources such as Facebook to “get to
know” their neighbours
• This source of communication does not build a
strong, trust worthy community
11. • Schools, work places and personal leisure time are
suffering due to the fact that people too dependent on
technology (Bolton, 2001)
• Within school teachers now use smart boards and other
means of electronic devices to teach students, books are
harder to come by
• Instead of personally talking to a co-worker and
developing a relationship with them it is more convenient
and quicker to send an email
• As far a personal leisure time a book is now replaced with
e-readers, also most people send their leisure time
watching television or using the internet for one purpose or
another. It is now almost abnormal to have leisure time
without electronics.
12. Technology reduces job opportunities, affects social skills and people are too dependent on
their electronics
13. • View of social problems, rapid social change
disrupts the norms in a society, when norms
become weak or are in conflict with each others
society in a state of normlessness (Holmes, Knox,
Mooney, Schacht, 2013)
• Since technology has been so up and coming with
in all age groups, societies are at a state of
normlessness
• There are no norms set for the use of technology
therefore it is border line accepted everywhere,
even in places where it should not be
