6. The A΄Technical School is located at the best area of
Nicosia, opposite the Hilton hotel.
It was built by the British Colonial Government at 1955-56.
At the first year of operation the school had 385 students and
offered 4 directions of studies:
• Electrical • Mechanical • Automobile • Welding technicians
7. After the Turkish invasion in 1974, many persons were
displaced from the northern to the southern part of the island.
As a result, during 1976-1977, the number of students was
increased to the maximum of 2421.
The school operated during morning, afternoon and evening
hours.
8. The number of students started decreasing, after the year
1977, due to the fact that more schools were built.
Although more directions were offered like
electrical, mechanical, civil, automobile, carpentry, plumbing, je
welry and fine arts, the number of our students continued to
decrease.
9. 404 students (17 girls and 387 boys) follow the morning
sessions during the school year 2010-2011 .
360 students follow evening sessions in different subjects.
