1. Funding- FE Students
• If you are studying full-time, you will either be applying online for a college
bursary/EMA, or applying online to SAAS for a student loan. This depends on the
level of course you are studying.
• Whichever route applies to you this will be your main source of income as a
student. Most students find that they need to take on part-time work to make
ends meet (See our Jobzone section for help with this).
• There is additional funding available from college, called the Student Discretionary
Fund. If you find yourself in financial difficulties come along to one of our Money
Matters drop-ins to see if we can help. Drop-ins are held regularly in Learner
Services.

• Processing time usually 4-6 weeks
• Once you are at college, payments
are fortnightly and based on
attendance
• EMA payments require 100%
attendance
• Bursary payments require 90%
attendance
• You must submit a Student Absence
Monitoring (SAM) form if you miss
classes
• MAXIMUM 10 absences per year (5
per semester)
• You are expected to attend 100% of
classes
3. Funding- HE Students
• Apply online to SAAS (Student
Awards Agency Scotland) for funding
AND fees
• Submit evidence to SAAS
• Processing time is approximately 6-10
weeks
• Once you receive your award
letter, you must bring it to Learner
Services before payments can be
released
• Payments are monthly on the 7th of
each month
• You are expected to attend 100% of
classes
• Your attendance and progress on
course is monitored and reported to
SAAS
