2. INTRODUCTION
There are many methods that are usually
used by teachers to teach foreign
language.
One of them is grammar translation
method. Grammar translation method
are used to teach grammar in the class,
focused on translation and memorizing
verb conjugations and forms, and given
in native language.
3. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
Students are focuses only in the
learning of grammar rules and their
application translating to Spanish.
4. JUSTIFICATION AND SIGNIFICANCE.
Justification: This study is from students
who are in English classes in junior high
school in which teacher translate the
classes.
Significance: This study is important
because help to solve an educational
problem like the lack of attention of
students in English classes.
5. HYPOTHESIS
WORKING HYPOTHESIS: Teacher have
to implement the vocabulary in English using
games, song or realia taking into account
grammar without translation while they are
teaching. The English class can be more fun if
the student do not memorize the grammar
rules but they put them in to practice in order
they can use it spontaneously.
NULE HYPOTHESIS: There are not any
activities, no techniques that the teacher can
use for students not memorize grammar rules
either translate the whole class.
6. VARIABLE
THE INDEPENDENT VARIABLE
The independent variable in this study
is: Using realia in the English class.
THE DEPENDENT VARIABLE
The dependent variable in this study is:
Learning Basic English grammar.
7. OBJECTIVES
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
To describe the use of grammar
translation method to teach English in
Junior High School of Ocu in the 3er
trimester of 2013.
8. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
To set a research about grammar translation
method and what we can do as a teacher in order
to avoid the translation for students pay more
attention to the English classes in English
language.
To review the information about difficulties that
affect students in English classes when teachers
translate the whole class and they make students
memorize grammar rules.
To apply interviews to teachers and observations
to students in order to know the relation when
teacher is speaking in English.
To interpret the results of the information gathered
from the interviews to teachers and observations
to students.
To show and expose my conclusions and
recommendations about the results gathered from
the results.
9. SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS
SCOPE: in this study I have gathered
some observations about students in their
English classes.
LIMITATIONS:
Time because sometimes I do not have
time to go to Ocu to the high school to
develop the investigation.
Economical factor because I need money
to travel from my house to Ocu.
Lack of cooperation from teachers.
10. SOME OF MY KEY TERM
Vocabulary: a set of words within a language used
to teach a class.
Translation: is the interpreting of the meaning of a
text. Is the process of turning an original or source
text into a text in another language. Translation in a
teaching English in high school levels have some
disadvantages like inaccurate words, the use and
application and translation also take time to
interpret.
Classroom interact: is a process in which teachers
and students have reciprocal effect upon each
other’s through which they say and do in the
classroom, it is the successful transmission of
messages between teacher and students.
11. Realia: are object from real life used in
classroom instruction by educators to improve
students understanding of other cultures and
real life situation. Is used to illustrate and teach
vocabulary to facilitate language acquisition
and production.
English Grammar: is the body of the rules that
describe structure of expression in the English
language. This includes the structure of word
phrases, clauses and sentences.
English Language: is the primary language of
several countries and a second language in a
number of multilingual countries.
