- 1. Evaluation Task 5 How did you address/attract your audience? Part 2 The main target audience for our title sequence/entire film concept was teenage/young adult females. Our film was from the romantic drama genre so essentially it would be a film that appeals to girls more anyway. We addressed this through our use of meaning and emotion in the storyline. In our research we conducted a survey to establish the kinds of things the audience wanted from our film so that we could address what they were looking for and what they would best enjoy. We first checked that our genre was up top with the most popular genres to the audience, then asked questions about preferred content. We learnt that the audience preferred slow paced films
- 2. with happy endings, so we decided to have a sad ending to our title sequence which would then set up the main film for a progression towards the happy ending the audience desired. Another thing we asked was their preferment instruments to feature on the soundtrack to the film. The most popular answer we received for this was acoustic guitar so we catered for this with the score we had written and recorded on the instrument for our title sequence. Another way we addressed the audience was through the ways we made the characters relatable. The main characters are teenagers at the present time in the film so because they are of a similar age group to the audience it automatically helps them to connect more with the couple. We made the costume of the characters casual and simple so that they are portrayed as middle class which is more relatable to most of the audience. They also held no special traits or features, portraying them simply as the average British teenager. We then featured lots of traits stereotypically experienced by teenagers such as first love and the emotions felt when it ends, which hopefully most of the audience would have experienced at some point in their teen years and will be able to relate to, although presumably not in quite as catastrophical an end the tragedy of death experienced in the film.
