Mardi Gras is a carnival celebration held on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. Originating from French, Mardi Gras literally means "Fat Tuesday". The most famous Mardi Gras celebration occurs in New Orleans, where parades feature large floats decorated in green, purple and gold throwing beads and doubloons to crowds. Traditional foods enjoyed during Mardi Gras include King Cakes, cinnamon rolls decorated in the three colors that are symbolic of faith, justice and power.
