The Sakirin Mosque in Istanbul, Turkey is the first mosque to have an interior designed by a woman, Zeynep Fadillioglu. She is an interior designer known for her modern style who was able to subtly blend modern techniques and materials into the traditional conservative design of mosques. The mosque features a lovely, open interior with a soaring feel defined by its use of gold accents, unfinished wood, and a unique "dripping chandelier" that magnifies natural light.
