 Apple has created a series of Apps. To assist
  children diagnosed with an autism
  spectrum disorder or down syndrome.
 Some of these Apps. Include, Calm Counter
  - Social Story and Anger Management Tool,
  Using my Words for What I Want, and
  Conversation Social Stories and Simple
  PECS Communication Tool.
 These Apps. Are good for teachers to use in
  classrooms that I pads are accessible.
   Calm Counter is a visual and audio tool to help people calm down when
    they are angry or anxious. The app includes a social story about anger, and
    audio/visual tools for calming down

   The app also includes a simple social story with line drawings about anger.
    The social story talks about feeling angry and things you can do, like
    counting to ten, breathing deeply and taking a break, to calm yourself
    down.
   This app includes a 13 page social story about using words to
    ask for what you want, or asking for different objects or
    activities. The story focuses on why it’s important to tell
    people what you need or want, and the visual tool helps
    people who are non-verbal to ask for 9 specific things.
 Children with special needs often need more direct instruction of
  social skills like conversations.
 Teaching conversational skills to any child may be easier and less
  stressful when visual supports, like social stories are used. This social
  story explains accurate social information and ensures that your
  child will know what to expect when having a conversation.
 There are also many other technologies
  that assist students with other disabilities
  such as the hearing and vision impaired.

   There are many positive things that have
    come out of technology. I think that
    assistive technology is one of the most
    important advances we have had in
    technology because it gives students
    with disabilities a fair chance at learning.
