2. WHAT IS A LEARNING DISABILITY
Definition- a neurologically based difficulty in the
achievement in academic abilities.
Can effect-
Basic skills- math, reading, etc.
Higher level thinking- organization and time
management
4 to 6 percent of all students have a learning disability.

Diet
ADHD- avoid soda, sweets, quash, and natural
orange juice
Dyslexia- try sugar free diet.
The law requires schools to develop individual
education plans for all children with learning
disabilities.

8. MAINSTREAMING
Mainstreaming- placing learning disabled students in
“regular” classrooms throughout the day
Pros- higher academic achievement, higher self-
esteem, and better social skills.
Cons- are LD students getting enough attention?
Does that take attention away from other students?
