3. A BeagleBoard-xM with a power supply, HDMI
cable, Cat5 cable, two USB hubs, and a small
form factor Bluetooth dongle attached while the
unit is powered up.
4. What is it?

An ARM board
●
A low power device
●
A sometimes cranky device
7. A Sometimes Cranky Device
●
The device is based around a System on Chip (“SoC”)
– It cannot be upgraded
– If part of the SoC fails, the whole thing may die
●
There is only 512 megabytes of memory
●
On occasion, in lieu of core dumps, the network controller
and/or the USB controller will just cease to function in an
overload situation
●
No Real Time Clock – NTP must be installed and a network
connection must be presented
