1. Risk Assessment
As Director I am responsible for the majority of these risks, however it is important to remember that general health and safety rules and
“common sense” should be adhered to at all times.
Risk Identified Shooting Location Responsibility
Strategy to Overcome /
Prevention
Illness / injury All Me / actors
If the actors are ill or injured, I will ensure
there is a substitute. For myself, that is a
risk that cannot be overcome, so
shooting would have to be rescheduled.
Actor Inconveniences / Clashes All Me / actors
The shooting will be scheduled around
the actors, so this should be avoided,
however, unforeseen circumstances will
cause us to reschedule
Weather Outdoors N/A
I will look at the weather forecast before
we film outside, to ensure the best
possible weather.
Memory card full / formatting malfunction All Me
I will prepare a backup(s) memory card in
case of this, however, if both malfunction,
then I will reschedule with a new one.
Broken Equipment All Me
The majority of equipment will be my
own, so I will ens ure it’s in working order
prior to the shoot.
Low battery All Me
There will be some plug sockets for our
indoor scenes, regardless of this, I will
ensure the battery is fully charged.
Not getting props / costumes on time All Me I currently own all props.
Actor gives poor performance All Me / actor
I have worked with the actors prior, and
will ensure they are fully aware and fully
capable.
2. Lighting All Me / N/A
I will provide torches for the scenes that
require them, however, the studio lighting
is suitable.
Location safety / unavailable All Me
The location is a public place, so it is
safe. The indoor location will need to be
booked in advance.
Trip hazards Studios Me
I will ensure that there are no
unnecessary wires, props and equipment
in the studio for actors or myself to trip
over.
Public interference Outside Me / actor / possible assistant
It will be difficult to stop the public from
walking into shots whilst outdoors,
however, I will wait for them to pass
before filming.
Electricals Studios Me
Electrical equipment will only be turned
on if it is being used.
Software Post-production Editing Suite Me / n/a I will regularly save work, to prevent loss.
General Health & Safety All Me / actor
It is important than general health and
safety and common sense is adhered to
all times. Our own safety is paramount,
but at the same time it is important to
respect the equipment used and the
facilities. To do this in the studios
particularly we (me and the actor) will
familiarise ourselves with the regulations
of these resources.
