Ireland’s First Live Music Channel Launched as part of Aertv.ie

New Irish TV service Aertv.ie launched today to offer a new way to watch live TV online –
just click and watch anytime and anywhere.
The free service, formerly known as Magnet WebTV, is now registration-free and has a
simpler, easy-to-use interface. As well as broadcasting all of the main Irish TV channels
Aertv.ie will transmit Ireland’s first live music channel, Aertv Music.
Anybody with an internet connection and either a computer, smartphone or tablet can
enjoy the service, without the need for a set-top box, satellite dish, cable, or even a TV set.
The eleven free channels include RTÉ One, RTÉ Two, TV3, TG4 and 3e as well as, RTÉ One +
1, RTÉ News Now, RTÉ jr, France 24, Russia Today and Dáil Éireann. These will stream on
Aertv.ie simultaneous to the stations’ TV broadcast. The service will also broadcast live
events and unique home-produced content.
Hard Working Class Heroes Goes Live
The first live event broadcast will kick off this weekend with indie rock event of the year,
Hard Working Class Heroes. Aertv Music, Ireland’s first dedicated live online music channel,
will live stream selected gigs from the 100 bands playing in and around a number of venues
in Dublin over the three day music event.

Along with the free live TV, Aertv.ie has an integrated Twitter and Facebook facility, so you
can share your favourite live events and TV shows as they air.
Commenting on the service, Aertv’s Director Philippe Brodeur said: “This is a great service
and long overdue. Finally, people can watch all the main Irish TV channels live on their
mobiles, tablets and PCs for free and without even having to log in. And this weekend is very
exciting – we’ve teamed up with the Hard Working Class Heroes Festival to launch our
dedicated music channel. It’s the first of many genre channels we’ll be offering free to our
audiences.”
Mark Kellett, CEO of Magnet, said of the service: “More and more of us are watching
content online on our own terms, and Aertv.ie is addressing that. We’ve built on what
worked with Magnet WebTV to make a good service even better. Eleven free channels and
live event broadcasts are just the beginning.”
Irish audiences are indeed turning away from TVs and towards their computers, with 71 per
cent of people in Ireland now watching TV programmes on their laptops and PCs, and one in
five (20 per cent) doing so regularly. This rises to 89 per cent for those aged 18-25, with 58

2. per cent regularly watching TV on their computers.*
Aertv.ie is a division of Magnet Networks. For €3.99 per month Magnet broadband
customers have the option to upgrade to avail of an additional 16 (27 in total) channels.

3. Hard Working Class Heroes has this year teamed up with Aertv.ie to broadcast a selection of gigs
live online for the first time. Free online TV service Aertv.ie will air live performances from this
popular indie rock event. Outside The Button Factory to launch Aertv.ie and announce the
broadcast of the gigs were singer-songwriter EleventyFour and Orla Breslin of Cars Love Girls,
both performing this weekend. Aertv.ie offers a new way to watch live TV online on your PC,
smartphone or tablet. It broadcasts eleven channels for free including all of the main Irish ones.
