1. “Superstar” FoundersSeoul Space was founded by three very successful Korean technopreneurs. They are no strangers to the technology and entrepreneur scene, and they know the Korea market well as evident in their past ventures. Sharing office and getting some mentorship with the three legendary founders is a plus point for incubating businesses with Seoul Space2. Connections with Silicon ValleyAs the founders are closely connected to big incubators such as Y-Combinator in Silicon Valley, it will provide Seoul Space incubator advices and connection if they decide to expand in the west or get more funding from Silicon Valley.3. Knowing both Domestic and Foreign MarketSeoul Space is one of the few incubators with an English website and that says a lot about their mission to help Korea’s IT startups and early-venture businesses to go global, as well as being a default “soft-landing” pad for global internet and software companies, like Twitter or Evernote, to enter and/or grow in the Korean market.
Director of Google from early 2001 to 2006, David was the first international executive to lead the sales, operations, and business development efforts in Asia, Europe and Latin America, and launched Google’s offices in KR, JP, CN, AU, and elsewhere. David has since Co-Founded XG-Ventures, a renowned angel fund in Silicon Valley that has already exited 10 companies in its 30 company portfolio, and is lead Advisor for SK Telecom Ventures. He’s an LP in Y-Combinator and SV Angels, and has been profiled in both BusinessWeek and Forbes magazine, and still manages to find time for some rounds of golf between forays of IT world domination.
Richard brings a over a decade of experience from across the Korean IT industry to the Seoul Space team. He founded Korea’s first pay-per-click search engine company, Zingu, launched the first Hello Kitty game for iPhone as Sanrio Digital’s only Global Licensed Partner, and lead Samsung Mobile and Electronics successful viral marketing campaigns in Asia. Richard is an official Mentor for the Korea Communications Commission's (KCC) IBS (Internet Business Startups) program, recognized authority on WebMasterWorld, a speaker at Youth Venture Summit (YVS) and TechCrunch in Tokyo, and Direct Marketing Association (DMA) Conference in New York, and was a Research Fellow at the Korean government thinktank, Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP). Richard has consulted for global Fortune 500 enterprises (eg: Google, Twitter etc) and local Korean businesses as an industry authority, leader and pioneer on the digital frontier.
Founder of CP Entertainment: A Seoul-based Concert and Artist Licensing, Events and Promotions Company with representation experience including the Pussycat Dolls and other international artists. Chong-pil is an investor in various IT, entertainment, franchise and real estate ventures, including Seoul Space. He has lighting-fast PC gaming reflexes and makes a killer pasta sauce — both invaluable skills for any good startup.
1. The VisionaryBeing of the first startup incubator in Korea, the founders of Seoul Space clearly envision the market way earlier than their competitors. Seoul Space also aspire to the starup gateway between Korea and rest of the world by helping Korea’s IT startups and early-venture businesses to go global, as well as being a default “soft-landing” pad for global internet and software companies, like Twitter or Evernote, to enter and/or grow in the Korean market. 2. Having AmbitionPuting "Striving to become the Silicon Valley of Korea" as their about us profile definitely sums up Seoul Space's Ambition. In fact, may tech news websites have highlighted Seoul Space to be the "Korea's Y-Combinator".3. Build a Top-Notch Business TeamWithout a doubt, the impressive trio do make a top-notch business team. They are experience and influential in the startup scene and had made a good team thus far.4. Build a Rock-Soild ReputationBuilding the pioneer in the field does has it own advantage; Seoul Space being one of the first few startup incubator had aquired a good reputation over the years. The incubator future ride on the fame of its founder which further solidify its name.5. Do what you enjoyLook at their passion. If that don't convince you, look at their smile:)
