Honda engineers created ASIMO, a humanoid robot, to walk upright like humans. ASIMO's body is made of lightweight magnesium alloy and plastic covered. It is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery in its backpack. ASIMO can detect forces through sensors in its wrists to synchronize with humans. It uses stored walking patterns and posture control to walk, run, and maintain balance smoothly in any direction. ASIMO can also recognize voices, determine sound directions, and respond to faces and gestures.
2. In 1986, Honda engineers set out to create a walking robot.
Early models (E1, E2, E3) focused on developing
legs that could simulate the walk of a human.
The next series of models (E4, E5, E6)
were focused on walk stabilization and stair climbing.

5. ASIMO body is made of magnesium alloy covered with a
plastic resin , which makes ASIMO very durable and light
weight .
Power Source
ASIMO is powered by a rechargeable 51.8 volt
lithium ion ( Li-ION) battery that lasts for one hour on single
charge .
the battery is stored i ASIMO backpack and weight about 13
pound

7. Synchronize with Humans
with force sensor in its wrists , ASIMO detects the strength
and direction of the force applied to its hand and adjusts
its movements to accommodate the person it is attending
8. WALKING AND RUNNING
ASIMO is very stable even when moving suddenly .
stored walking pattern for start acceleration ,steady speed ,
deceleration , stopping and turning are combined to achieve
smooth walking.
walking pattern are generated independently in real time
by ASIMO it self , and foot placement locations and turning
are carried out by the robot while walking smoothly
in any direction .
9.
10. BALANCE
ASIMO uses posture control technology to proactively bend
or twist its torso to maintain balance and prevent foot
slipping while walking and running .
11.
12. 1- Establishes the shortest route from the origin to the
destination.
2- Drive to an alternate route when it finds an obstacle.
3-When it finds an obstacle on its alternate route it drivers to
another route .
16. ASIMO can distinguish between voices and other sounds
it able to :
1- recognize when its name is called, and turn to face
the source of the sound.
2- look at the person speaking and respond .
3- recognize sudden , usual sounds such as that
of a falling object or a collision and face in that direction.
17. faces & gesture
ASIMO can react not only to voice commands ,
but also to the natural movements of humans .
based on visual information , ASIMO can interpret
the position and movement of hand recognize posture ,
gestures and faces.
1- movement to an indicated location
2- recognition of hand movements
3- distinguish between registered faces .
