Smart Solar Electric Bicycle Project
Introduction:-
Solar bicycle also known as solar e-bike is an electric bicycle with a electric motor
used to generate power to move the vehicle which is being charged using solar
energy by solar panels. Usually, photovoltaic (PV) cells contained in solar panels
convert the sun's energy directly into electric energy. It also uses a dynamometer to
charge the battery of the vehicle. Electric bicycles typically cost around US$500,
use rechargeable batteries and can travel up to 15 to 20 miles per hour (24 to 32
km/h). While electric cars may get the most attention, there are other eco-friendly
options out there, too. And, frankly, electric bikes are far friendlier to the
environment than most electric vehicles
Working Principle:-
The Bicycle will consist of a rechargeable battery pack, which powers a
lightweight motor unit over the front wheel. Touch a lever, and the unit pivots to
bring a pulley-mounted belt into contact with the tyre. Press a switch, and the belt
drives the wheel. When you no longer need power assistance, a flick of the
handlebar switch takes the belt out of contact with the tyre and in the meanwhile
the battery will get itself charged up by the dynamometer.
Three Mode Biking Options-
 Only pedal power
 Pedal assists electric power
 All electric power (no pedal options)
Components Details:-
1. Bicycle – A bicycle as per the design of the vehicle.
2. Motor – An electric motor to drive the vehicle400-500W.
3. Battery – A battery having a power of atleast 36V and 10Ah.
4. Battery Charger - 24-volt 5 amp automatic charger/
5. Solar Panels – Atleast 3 Solar Panels of 10-15w each to charge the battery.
6. Dynamometer
Properties:-
 It will be highly efficient with respect to power consumption.
 Eco friendly
 The Smart cycle will use onle renewable source of energy.
 The product is simple in design and user friendly
 Smart cycle also fulfills the comforts and safety requirements.
 Noise free vehicle.
 Also uses the mechanical enrgy which we produce at the time of pedaling.
 Cheaper than other electric bikes.
 It can be electrically charged as well.
Application And Uses:-
 The product is easily being used for transportation puposes even at a cheaper
rate.
 As it is a bicycle therefore it also works manually using pedals hence helps
in exercises
 The smart cycle also includes a electric motor which can also be used to
perform different electric work such as to run washing machine, mixer
grinder etc.
Division of the work for the completion of the project:-
1. Feasibility- Studying the perfection and requirement of the specification of
different component being used.
2. Availability- To check the availability of the specific components being
listed and to make required changes.
3. Design- Design of the bicycle to be used, defining the position of the solar
panels to be used, location of different components to be used such as
battery, dynamometer, electric motor, automatic charger etc.
4. Purchasing – The required components to be purchased from defined
vendors.
5. Fabrication – The product is to be finally fabricated into the finished
product fulfilling all the above criteria and fulfilling all the designing limits.
6. Testing – The produced product will undergo different test to check its
failure points and to improve them.
Schedule of the Work for the completion of the project:-
Time management is an important factor which is to be given serious concern at
every engineering level and the same is to be applied at this moment so as to give a
better and maximum efficient project. The product so designed is to be done before
the dead line and should be in working condition as the feasibility and availability
requirements have to fulfilled before November- December so that we can work on
designing of the project which is to be completed before the end of this semester so
as to purchase the required project. After the completion of the designing of the
project the main thing left to do is the fabrication process which is to be done the
next semester including the testing and checking of the project manufactured.
Conclusion-
It is an attempt by us to make developing India aware about the other non
conventional ways of utilizing the renewable energy in our day to day life. We
also want to represent INDIA shoulder to shoulder with the other
developed/developing nations of the world and to test the technology on the
biggest possible platform.
It was indeed a small drop in ocean to decrease the global warming.

Smart Solar Electric Bicycle Project Introduction:- Solar bicycle also known as solar e-bike is an electric bicycle with a electric motor used to generate power to move the vehicle which is being charged using solar energy by solar panels. Usually, photovoltaic (PV) cells contained in solar panels convert the sun's energy directly into electric energy. It also uses a dynamometer to charge the battery of the vehicle. Electric bicycles typically cost around US$500, use rechargeable batteries and can travel up to 15 to 20 miles per hour (24 to 32 km/h). While electric cars may get the most attention, there are other eco-friendly options out there, too. And, frankly, electric bikes are far friendlier to the environment than most electric vehicles Working Principle:- The Bicycle will consist of a rechargeable battery pack, which powers a lightweight motor unit over the front wheel. Touch a lever, and the unit pivots to bring a pulley-mounted belt into contact with the tyre. Press a switch, and the belt drives the wheel. When you no longer need power assistance, a flick of the handlebar switch takes the belt out of contact with the tyre and in the meanwhile the battery will get itself charged up by the dynamometer. Three Mode Biking Options-  Only pedal power  Pedal assists electric power  All electric power (no pedal options)
  • 3. Components Details:- 1. Bicycle – A bicycle as per the design of the vehicle. 2. Motor – An electric motor to drive the vehicle400-500W. 3. Battery – A battery having a power of atleast 36V and 10Ah. 4. Battery Charger - 24-volt 5 amp automatic charger/ 5. Solar Panels – Atleast 3 Solar Panels of 10-15w each to charge the battery. 6. Dynamometer Properties:-  It will be highly efficient with respect to power consumption.  Eco friendly  The Smart cycle will use onle renewable source of energy.  The product is simple in design and user friendly  Smart cycle also fulfills the comforts and safety requirements.  Noise free vehicle.  Also uses the mechanical enrgy which we produce at the time of pedaling.  Cheaper than other electric bikes.  It can be electrically charged as well. Application And Uses:-  The product is easily being used for transportation puposes even at a cheaper rate.  As it is a bicycle therefore it also works manually using pedals hence helps in exercises  The smart cycle also includes a electric motor which can also be used to perform different electric work such as to run washing machine, mixer grinder etc.
  • 4. Division of the work for the completion of the project:- 1. Feasibility- Studying the perfection and requirement of the specification of different component being used. 2. Availability- To check the availability of the specific components being listed and to make required changes. 3. Design- Design of the bicycle to be used, defining the position of the solar panels to be used, location of different components to be used such as battery, dynamometer, electric motor, automatic charger etc. 4. Purchasing – The required components to be purchased from defined vendors. 5. Fabrication – The product is to be finally fabricated into the finished product fulfilling all the above criteria and fulfilling all the designing limits. 6. Testing – The produced product will undergo different test to check its failure points and to improve them. Schedule of the Work for the completion of the project:- Time management is an important factor which is to be given serious concern at every engineering level and the same is to be applied at this moment so as to give a better and maximum efficient project. The product so designed is to be done before the dead line and should be in working condition as the feasibility and availability requirements have to fulfilled before November- December so that we can work on designing of the project which is to be completed before the end of this semester so as to purchase the required project. After the completion of the designing of the project the main thing left to do is the fabrication process which is to be done the next semester including the testing and checking of the project manufactured.
  • 5. Conclusion- It is an attempt by us to make developing India aware about the other non conventional ways of utilizing the renewable energy in our day to day life. We also want to represent INDIA shoulder to shoulder with the other developed/developing nations of the world and to test the technology on the biggest possible platform. It was indeed a small drop in ocean to decrease the global warming.
