Presented at Interop, Mumbai -2009. Due to its unique model, clouds are being loved by techies and businessmen alike. However, clouds also present unique challenges such as dependency on Internet connectivity, vendor lock-in, vendor infrastructure as a single point of failure as well as lack of control over the SaaS software release schedule. That said, each of these challenges can be effectively tackled. For instance, Internet connectivity challenges can be addressed by means of caching devices, while "Cloud Virtualizers" can help in addressing vendor lock-in and vendor infrastructure as a single point of failure. The goal of this session is to make the audience aware of the opportunities, while effectively tackling cloud-related challenges.
