This document discusses radiological imaging techniques for diagnosing and evaluating intussusception. It provides examples of how intussusception appears on plain abdominal x-rays, ultrasound scans, barium enemas, and CT scans. On CT scans, intussusception has a pathognomonic sausage-like or target-like appearance, with visible mesenteric fat and vessels. CT scanning is reported to have the highest diagnostic accuracy of 58-100% for intussusception. However, imaging cannot determine the underlying cause or extent of ischemic injury requiring surgery. The document shows various examples of intussusceptions appearing on CT scans in different regions of the bowel.
