Here are a few organizations generally characterized by a high degree of environmental
activism. They may work locally, nationally, or internationally to promote the preservation of
species, ecosystems, natural resources, and work toward a more just and sustainable society.

highlights current ecological trends, as well as asks difficult questions about humanity's

The National Association of Conservation Districts is national voice for the nation's 3000 local
soil and water conservationdistricts. They work with federal and state government agencies and
business partnerships to promote natural resource conservation on private land. For nearly 40
years they have promoted an annual Soil and Water Stewardship Week observance. Much of
the focus has been on providing materials for use by church leaders within their normal worship
services and other church activities.

The Nature Conservancy is a US-based organization that buys waters and lands in order to
preserve species and their habitats. They manage the largest private system of natural
preserves in the world, and have programs in Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Pacific.
