2. Dear Young Water Professionals,
As Chair of the Bulgarian YWP Committee it is a great pleasure for
me to make an announcement about the First Bulgarian National Young
Water Professionals’ conference with international participation in
Sofia 2012!
National water associations worldwide play an important role in the
Water Sector development throughout collecting experts-relevant
topics together by supporting capacity building and by providing an
international network of water professionals.
The challenges in the development of the water sector in Bulgaria concerns the
whole professional community and they are unique possibility for the Young Water
Professionals to upgrade their professional skills and to proof their own capacity
for achieving their professional ambitions.
The conference is open to all the interested Young Water Professionals on
national and international level by the age of 35, active in the Water sector and
motivated to contribute to development of the Water Sector for achieving a better
quality of water resources and water utilities series.
The first Bulgarian national young water professional’s conference in Sofia in
2012 will provide a professional platform for knowledge and experience exchange
and I would be glad to welcome you in Sofia!

The conference will include oral presentations and posters oral presentations.
Papers on all aspects of the water sector are welcome, but the conference will

Abstracts’ Submission
The conference is open to all the Bulgarian and international young water
professionals under the age of 35. The official language of the conference is
English.
The abstracts of about one page should verified clearly the content of the oral
presentation and have to be submitted within the submission’s deadline.
Posters’ content have to be submitted within the period for abstracts submission
and have clearly demonstrate the author’s ideas and intents.
The abstracts and posters must be submitted online using the conference website.
Abstracts and posters will be a subject of peer review and selection.
Formatting guidelines for abstracts as well as submission procedure can be

At least one YWP author of each selected platform paper and poster must
register and attend the conference to present the paper. The best paper will be
included in the programme of the YWP conference in Budapest 2012.
3. About IWA & the IWA Young Water Professionals Programme
The Young Water Professionals Programme of IWA provides
national and regional conferences and forums worldwide in a
peer to peer learning environment for water sector experts and http://www.iwahq.org
students under the age of 35 to network and present their work.
About the Bulgarian Young Water Professionals Committee
The Young Water Professionals (YWP) at the Bulgarian Water
Association (BWA) was established on the 29th of January 2010
by a constituent assembly of BWA members under 35 years old,
organized by invitation from the BWA President and Secretary
General. The members have different professional profiles in
the water sector in Bulgaria. The branch elected an YWP
committee of seven members, representing all the profiles

The Young Water Professionals (YWP) in Bulgaria started their activities since
2007 and naturally evolved into an important component in the water sector.
Until now the group of the young individual members expanded into a quarter
of the BWA individual members, which was a prerequisite they to be organized
officially according to the initiative of IWA for national chapters all over the
world.
About the BWA
The Bulgarian Water Association (BWA) is a non governmental, non-profit
organization established on 1 December 2005 by merging of Bulgarian
Association of Water&Wastewater Utilities and Bulgarian Association of Water
Quality, both established in 1993.

In general members of the Association are juridical and
natural persons, who are involved in the water supply and
wastewater collection (WSW) field, including quality and
treatment of drinking water and wastewater; management,
preservation and utilization of water resources. Now
members of BWA are also experts and firms, operates in the
fields of Irrigation and Drainage and Water Power
Generation.
BWA prepares peer reviews on legislative and regulatory draft documents
drawn up by governmental bodies, develops standpoints and strategies,
and assists in commissioning of expert appraisals, projects and
consultations on all issues concerning water supply and wastewater
collection, protection and use of water resources.
