2. What Is It?
An organization needs security measures so criminals
don’t get in the system from inside and take
confidential information from the server, security
measures will stop the criminal getting into the building
in the first place
3. Locks
A lock and key is a padlock and a key that only certain people will have access
to, it can be used on cabinets that keep either secret information or expensive
goods inside, this is helpful as if someone gets inside somehow they cannot get
into the cabinets where private things are stored and they can’t get stolen.
Thief's may want to steal company laptop or tablets in order to sell them and
make easy money.
In special rooms that only certain people are allowed in like janitor’s cupboards
and server rooms will also have locks on and the key will be given to the
authorized people keypads can also be a way to do this and only certain people
will know the code.
Lock and key or keypads are a very good way to keep everything secure as only
authorized people will be given keys or the code so the thief cannot steal
laptops, information etc.. Only technicians should be able to access the server
room so no one else can damage it or anything.
4. A visitor pass is something that a visitor to the organization will be given at
reception or by a senior member of staff to prove that they are a legitimate
visitor to the building and if anything gets stolen they can searched and their
Information
In places like colleges these systems are put in place to know who is a visitor
in the college and who is staff/students if some one doesn’t have these
passes on they can be challenged by anyone and if verification is not
provided they will be either took to reception to get one or get thrown out of
the building.
This process will make sure anyone who isn’t supposed to be in the college is
not in, this ensures system security as someone who has sneaked in and
looking to steal something etc. cannot as they will be challenged with
verification to be in the building.
Visitor Passes
5. Sign In/Sign Out
This is used within conjunction with visitor passes, it uses a piece of paper
normally at reception to monitor who has been and left the company by
writing what date/time and name and registration they have.
It can be also used for regulars in the company to say they’ve left the
company so if anything happens to the company (fire, bomb scare etc.) the
reception know your out already. Places like colleges and schools do this so
they know who is inside the building and what time they left to so again if an
emergency occurs then they know which visitors are missing etc..
This helps to keep the system and data secure by making sure that
unauthorized personnel cannot can get into the college, company and
anywhere that data needs to be kept confidential
6. Guards
A guard is someone you would hire to maintain security within the building he
will do a number of jobs within the company like; Make sure everyone who is
in the building are authorized, let the right people in and out, challenge
anyone who hasn’t got a visitor pass.
On the night he would make sure the building is secure and no one who isn’t
supposed to get in cant get in, they can do this by checking all the doors and
windows are closed and locked.
This keeps the system secure by not letting people who aren’t supposed to
be in the building out especially at night when no one else is there.
