AdWords Software Provides Powerful Negative Keyword
Tools
Google AdWords allows you to set negative keywords (those keywords in a group that you don't
want to bid on) through its search query report, but there are a lot of problems with this method
of negative keyword discovery.

WordStream's negative keyword tool is a huge improvement over the search query report. First
of all, rather than having to go through a long list of queries and delete each negative keyword
one by one, the tool suggests negative terms and allows you to set "broad match" rules for entire
groups of keywords. For example, if you sell fish tanks, fish food and related supplies, you can
set a rule to designate any keywords that contain the word "recipe" as negative, even those that
haven't entered your database yet. You don't have to wait until you pay for an irrelevant
impression to banish "best foods tuna fish salad recipe" from your "fish food" group.
Secondly, WordStream's negative keyword tool shows you all of the search queries that your text
ads are matching on. AdWords shows you some, but rolls up a number of them into a group
marked "other queries." You can't see those queries or take any action on them, so you'll always
be missing some negative keywords.
