What2buy4kids 2014 Review
1. What2buy4kids 2014 in Review: Websites, Radios
and Feedback
If you could take one moment from 2014 and frame it, which would it be?
I think I’d struggle; last year was so busy for what2buy4kids. And whittling all that fun and progress in to one
moment – impossible!
As parents and business owners our lives naturally span more than one sphere so it makes sense to celebrate in
more than one area.
The biggest overarching accomplishment at what2buy4kids was the new website. A site we’ve continued to
enhance and improve in line with what you, our customers, have asked for.
What do you like about the what2buy4kids website?
You voted being able to search by age our most useful feature. You told us that knowing just what’s right for a
five year old, (and a year six or four year old) delivers loads of inspiration and assurance that the gift you select
will see the child into the year ahead. You said this was especially useful for friends and relations, so if you’re a
parent reading this – spread the word! We’ve ensured age categories are a prominent feature on the new site.
Free Gift Wrapping
You also told us our free gift wrapping service and hand written cards are a much-loved addition to our service.
It’s great to have this feedback and we promise to continue this free service.
Feedback Thank You
Talking of feedback, I’d also like to take a moment to thank you for all your comments and kind words. It was
lovely to hear from so many of your over the Christmas period regarding our delivery service and helpful team.
2. We do everything we can to deliver promptly – especially over Christmas – as well as to always provide a
friendly, personable and helpful service. Customer service is a leading brand value here at what2buy4kids and
it’s great to know we’ve got happy customers out there!
Making Radio Waves
In early September, what2buy4kids was featured on National BBC Radio on the Mark Forrest Show. Mark was
talking about how to avoid giving rubbish gifts and I was brought on as a toy expert. It was a great experience
to share my passion for quality gifts on live radio, offering hints and tips on how to find the best toys.
Around the same time we were featured in many Christmas gift guides – in The Sunday Times alongside John
Lewis and Selfridges with our voice changer and in the educational supplement of the Manchester Evening
News with our science toys and washable play mats. And my business story was also featured in our local
Warrington Guardian.
Fitness, Fashion and Toys
All this fantastic exposure included another fantastic opportunity – to be part of VISA’s Personal Shopper
season as a toy expert for kids. I travelled to London in late November to Saatchi & Saatchi’s premises and took
part in a two day Twitter session covering fitness, fashion and toys. I was the toy expert, alongside Jason
Bradbury from the Gadget Show. It was great fun answering people’s questions on Twitter and building
relationships and new followers. A wonderful experience and great exposure for what2buy4kids.
Easter Gift Ideas 2015
And that brings us to 2015! You can see why 2014 must be more than one momentous memory – what a year!
Coming up in the next few weeks we’ll have a ‘Make Your Own Easter Egg’ kit, which I’m particularly excited
about – these types of kits are always very popular with kids. And at the time of writing I’ll have just been to
the Toy Show at Olympia scouring the market for the latest and greatest gifts for kids. Look out for more new
additions to our range, coming soon.
3. And please do keep your thoughts and feedback coming – we love hearing from you and it helps us continually
enhance and improve our service.
Best of luck for your 2015. We look forward to helping you buy great gifts for kids in the coming year.
