Manufacturer Gains a Global Edge with Fortis™
1. Manufacturer Gains a Global Edge with Fortis™
Longtime innovator of integrated document management solutions, Westbrook Tech, provides
comprehensive corporate growth resources to more than 24,000 customers worldwide. As Westbrook
Tech continues to innovate and expand its product offerings, the foundations of its success remain
unchanged. Longtime Westbrook Tech client, Greenheck Fan Corporation, serves as an excellent model
for how Westbrook Tech’s Fortis™ software enables company expansion and success.
Creating a Better Data Flow
A leading manufacturer of air-movement and control equipment, Greenheck needed a better system for
managing its production and shipment of fans and ventilators, centrifugal and vane axial units, make-up
air units, energy recovery ventilators, dampers, louvers, laboratory exhaust systems and kitchen
ventilation systems around the world. Before putting the Fortis™ system into place, Greenheck
Corporation faced several challenges as a growing manufacturer including:
● Location and retrieval of archived documents;
● Document sharing;
● Coordination of disparate processes or workflows that used identical documents;
● and tracking and auditing document-based processes.
The Fortis™ Effect
Greenheck put the Fortis™ system into place in 2000 and over the next 13 years greatly improved its
document management, ordering, and workflow processing. Greenheck chose Fortis™ for its superior
document management capabilities and affordable licensing fees. Lower licensing fees meant that
Greenheck could allow more employees to utilize the software and maximize engagement and
integration across its production and management platforms.
With an average volume of 800 orders per day, Greenheck’s data management imperatives were
enterprise content management, reliable data capture and storage, and interactive workflow review
capabilities. Within months of instituting the Fortis™ system Greencheck managers noted the following
enterprise content management improvements
● Order inquiries were being answered more quickly
● Drastic reduction of transit time of orders
● Reliable, consistent, quick order review
● Harmonization of users accessing information,
● Improved consistency in customer communication
● Instant access to complete all documents included complete orders
● 25% of sales assistants' time opened-up for work due to increased processing efficiency
● More secure backup with document management
Greenheck managers reported that the company’s return on investment with the Fortis™ system was
achieved less than one year after it had been purchased and implemented. Greenheck managed a
savings of five FTE's (Full Time Equivalents, or head counts) with its improved document management
implementation, alone. A Greenheck systems management analyst noted, “Actual return on investment
was probably greater than that. Less quantifiable returns were equally important. For example, we could
not have implemented our DOE program without document management in place.”
The following chart outlines Greenheck’s workflow process and some of the Fortis™ system’s supporting
functionalities.
2. Today, Greenheck sales are in excess of $500 million annually, with a workforce of more than 2,500
people and a 1.5 million square foot manufacturing facility. Greenheck's ventilation products are
available throughout the United States and Canada through a network of manufacturer's reps.
Greenheck representatives may also be contacted in countries around the world. Since 2000 Greenheck
has relied upon Fortis™ to support and facilitate its operations and enable on-going growth and
innovation.
