1. Why Marks.3zet?
Produced in Germany under ISO standards. These packing’s are quality checked constantly during
production.
A special system(calibration) eliminates irregularities in thickness. Calibration means that the paper is
produced thicker and pressed (calibrated) in multiple steps to the final thickness. Tolerance is below +/-
0.01mm. This gives the under packing paper extreme hardness, which prevents dot gain and warrants the
highest print quality.
Patented colour coding of different thicknesses.
The packing’s come in 10 different thicknesses (between 0.075mm-0.5mm) in all sizes for optimized
pressure for all printing presses.
Grain direction is always parallel to the cylinder axis. In case of paper crash the under packing paper
sacrifice itself to avoid serious damage to the printing press.
Another advantage of calibrated paper sheets of Marks.3zet is the low swelling tendency. Through a
special combination of active substances a swelling of the edges due to the dampening water occurring in
the offset printing process is prevented.
In addition, partial losses of production are prevented through “slipping” since Marks.3zet has
incorporated an “anti-slipping brake” in the paper sheets with a special upgrading.

2. Why Monocle?
If you visit the majority of print shops today you will find them using a CTP plate making system. The plates
are manually or automatically fed into the plate maker, punched before being imaged, finished and
transported neatly onto a stacker. So there is no need for an additional plate punch for the printing press.
If like many printers you wish to mount your blanket underlay packing’s on to the bars provided by the
printing press manufacturer, there is no chance to prepare the packing’s quickly and accurately. So you are
left with the only option of folding the packing’s and hooking them over the front edge of the blanket
cylinder and in most cases having to cut out a section to leave space for the centre support bar. A perfectly
acceptable method that works well. But now you have a choice.

In each case we can supply quality colour coded calibrated underlay packing sheets from the market leader
Marks.3zet. For Heidelberg machines with a 2.3mm undercut, the packing sheets are supplied flat in packs
of 10. . For Heidelberg machines with a 3.0 or 3.2mm undercut, the packing’s can also be supplied in sets. 1
set per printing unit.
Option 1: Blanket under packing’s supplied punched and trimmed to exactly fit your press. Often packing’s
which are too long can interfere with the rear mounting of the blankets or cause undue stress to the rear
edge of perfecting jackets. They can also be trapped against the rear edge of the blanket cylinder during
tightening and be torn from the packing bar. Packing’s which are too short result in a loss of image.
Option 2: Blanket under packing’s supplied to your machine manufacturer’s specifications which can be
folded and hooked over the front edge of the blanket cylinder.
