The Components of a Great SMS Campaign. How to: create valuable offers, start with the offer, include a direct call to action, create a sense of urgency, make exclusive offers
A Guide to Creating Powerful and Effective SMS Campaign
1. In order to draw in more and more
customers to your business, you
need to make your marketing
worthwhile and interesting!
THE COMPONENTS
OF A GREAT
SMS CAMPAIGN
Start with the offer
Text messages are meant to be short and to the point.
People are busy, and don’t have time to read your
wordy text messages. Start with the offer. If the first
thing the customer reads is an amazing offer, they will
be intrigued to read the rest of the message.
Include a direct call to action
A call to action is simply a request or instruction letting
your subscribers know what the next move is to receive
their offer. This will give your customers a push, and you
will receive more custom.
EXAMPLE: ‘Buy 1 main course meal and get the
second half price! This offer is available to all VIP
customers tonight and tomorrow only at The
Lakehouse Smoke Bar.
Call us with your VIP number to book’
Create a sense of urgency
Giving your customer a limited time to act upon the
offer, helps you achieve results as quickly as possible.
Your customers are more likely to rush to the phone to
make a booking if you only give them a couple of days
to use the offer.
EXAMPLE: ‘Buy 1 main course meal and get the
second half price! This offer is available to all VIP
customers tonight and tomorrow only at The
Lakehouse Smoke Bar. Call us with your VIP
number to book’
Customers are more likely to respond to a text like this.

Make the offer exclusive
Making your offer exclusive to your most valued VIP
customers, will make them feel much more involved
with your company. Also, if your VIP customers are
paying a fee to become a VIP member, regular offers
and deals will keep them sweet.
EXAMPLE: ‘Buy 1 main course meal and get the
second half price! This offer is available to all VIP
customers tonight and tomorrow only at The
Lakehouse Smoke Bar. Call us with your VIP
number to book’
Mention your brand name
Make sure your customers know exactly who the text
message is coming from to cut out any confusion. It’s a
good idea to put the brand name in the ‘Sender’ field
and within the text message.
EXAMPLE: ‘Buy 1 main course meal and get the
second half price! This offer is available to all VIP
customers tonight and tomorrow only at The
Lakehouse Smoke Bar. Call us with your VIP
number to book’

Create a valuable offer
When planning your offer, always imagine yourself in
the customers shoes. Would you want to receive it? If
you’re sending your SMS campaign to your most
valued customers, you don’t want to bore them with
worthless text messages. This could drive them away
more than draw them in.
