Position: Technical Support Assistant
Location: City of Edmonton Archives
Minimum Age: 18
Hours of Work: Minimum, 4 hour shift - any 4 hours between 8:30 am to 4:30
Thursday
Term: A commitment of one year is required. Volunteer may be required to
reapply for the position at the end of one year.
Located in the historic Prince of Wales Armouries Heritage Centre, the City of Edmonton
Archives is a public research facility housing civic government and private records
documenting Edmonton's history. Established in 1971, the Archives is administered by
the Community Services Department.
Position Details:
 To digitize archival records and historical documents for preservation or
access.

 Enjoy history and sharing history with others.
 Be willing to learn about archives.
 Have a Police Information Check done.

 Be a team player; work together with your colleagues on the same shift to
ensure that all the required work is being done and has been shared equally.

 Be clean and appropriately dressed for the work you are to perform.
 Adhere to the City of Edmonton’s Code of Conduct.

2. Education:
• Experience in an archival environment or with digitisation of archival records.
• Candidate must have experience with computer databases, (HTML and XML would
be a definite asset) scanning tools and with the creation of metadata.
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, time management, organizational and written/verbal
communication skills
