5.4.2.1 Monoclonal Antibodies: Implications for the Lyophilisation
Market
Table 5.4 shows a list of some approved monoclonal antibody drugs that are available in
lyophilised form. A leading product in this class is infliximab (Remicade, Centocor Ortho Biotech).
The drug is supplied as sterile, white lyophilised powder for intravenous infusion. Remicade is used
for treatment of multiple indications including Crohn’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis, plaque
psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, ulcerative colitis, paediatric Crohn’s disease and Ankylosing
Spondylitis. Visiongain believes it will continue to be one of the leading products in the mAbs
market. In addition to Remicade, there are several other monoclonal antibody drugs that will drive
the use of lyophilisation technology and services
