1. As someone who has worked in admissions and enrollment at multiple institutions, I have more
than once had to start from scratch learning and adapting to a new job and new environment. I
understand and sympathize with the obstacles and difficulties experienced by students coming
from the northeast since I am from and currently live in New Jersey. My career in higher
education began with advising incoming freshmen at my local community college before
transitioning to a career in admissions and enrollment. I worked in office for two small private
institutions, one in New Jersey and one in Florida, before transitioning to a regional position
with the University of Arizona. Transitioning to a regional position has been an asset in my
development as a professional. Working in another time zone has allowed me to understand
the difficulties many of the students I work with may have when transitioning to life in Arizona.
Although it occasionally leads to longer hours, connecting with colleagues across the country
can be beneficial in gaining a well-rounded perspective on my job. I can now work in almost
any environment as long as my technology has a full charge and I have internet.
I’ve been the Mid-Atlantic Regional Recruiter for the University of Arizona for almost two and
half years and the most important part of my position is bridging the gap from my institution to
my territory. Recruiting hundreds of miles away requires tailoring my message to the students
I’m working with. I have successfully carried out many programs, events, and initiatives for my
current position and will always to everything I can to bring creativity and a new perspective to
everything I do.
My passion for working with students is what keeps me in higher education, I love my current
position but I’m always open to hearing about new opportunities!
