Perspective on Brazilian economy
Brazil’s Investment Grade
Brazilian stock market responded positively at the news.
The move shows the solidity of the Brazilian economy in an adverse global economic environment.
It also proves that the country managed to go through the international financial crisis well, Mantega
said.
"It's good that this is happening soon after an international crisis, because they (Moodys) had the
opportunity to see Brazil being tested," Mantega said.
The investment grade will significantly made Brazil more attractive to foreign investors, he said.
According to the minister, the grade means that Brazil has a low risk of not paying its creditors,
which could reduce the interest rates in overseas loans and help postpone maturity dates on
governmental loans. It will also help private companies to get foreign loans.
