Interesting insights have come out from the Research done across six key airports in India,
over 3 months using the location audience technology of AdNear.
Key Airports researched considered are;
New Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata,Mumbai
“Travellers at Mumbai Airports spend 14% higher time at their mobiles than the
average. Thursday is the best day to target users on Mobile due to their high engagement.
Affluent & Professionals prefer to travel between 7 pm to 12 Midnight compared to Students &
Homemakers who prefer 3 pm to 7 pm for travel.
“Most travellers found at Mumbai Airport around 41% by Mobile Tracking and least found in
Hyderabad Airport around 3.5% over the last 3 months.”
4.6% of Indian Professionals & Affluent, 4.2% of Indian Home Makers & 3.4% of
Indian Students are found at one of these 6 airports once a month.*

So is travelling in India is skewed toward Up market.....not anymore.

Indian Travelers are also following Global Trends
The Insight: For their most recent trip, 2 out of 3 global travelers booked
their accommodation online.

Facebook & Indian Elections
In the US, social media is ubiquitous, with more than 70 percent of the adult population
engaging with it in some form. In India, on the other hand, internet penetration is just 205
million out of 1.2 billion, and registered voters (814 million) vastly outnumber social media
users (103 million). So it may be premature to call these parliamentary elections India’s ‘first
social media elections’. But a significant amount of the political discourse and campaigning
has definitely shifted to the third and fourth screens.
Falling in ‘Like’ With Politics Facebook is the mass social network in India, leading the pack by
quite a margin. Ninety percent of its 93 million Indian users are of voting age, and 11 percent
of the country’s voting population is using the platform.
Most of the activity happens on Facebook Pages: There are close to 52,000 pages for
politicians and political parties in India, according to data provided by the company, and 60 of

Some have staggering numbers: Narendra Modi is one of the most influential global leaders on
the platform with 11.8 million fans (second only to Barack Obama’s 39.5 million). At any given
point, more than a million fans are bustling around his page, twice the number on Obama’s
page. The BJP, however has a fan base of only 3.1 million
Facebook recently launched its India Election Tracker , a dashboard that tracks mentions of
candidates and parties in real-time. Users see a live-stream of candidates and can take a poll on
issues (like health care, jobs, education, corruption, etc) that concern them most.
Triggers are an essential part of social media engagement: An on-ground event almost always
results in heightened online activity. Arvind Kejriwal had 850,000 Facebook fans in December
last year; following his victory in the Delhi assembly polls, this shot up to 4.8 million in March.

C. E-commerce Latest Buzz
Snapdeal.com may hit $1 billion sales this year
Snapdeal is literally snapping at Flipkart's heels. Its sales might even be ahead of its older and
better known e-commerce peer.
Snapdeal's founder and CEO Kunal Bahl indicated to TOI that it would hit $1 billion in sales (or
gross merchandise value, as the ecommerce world calls it) in 2014, a year ahead of target.
Flipkart, based on its February numbers, had said earlier this month that it had touched an
annualized run-rate of $1 billion, again indicating that the full year 2014 would see the company
achieve that landmark.
E-commerce is growing fast: Amazon net sales 2001-2012 (USD billions) from $2.5 billion to
$61 billion – ~43% outside North America
Flipkart to co-develop virtual fashion brand stores
Flipkart is planning a blitzkrieg in its fashion lifestyle category that has helped bring in a new
demographic of online shoppers, including younger buyers in the age group of 20 to 27 years
and those in tier II and III cities.
While the company has said that co-developed brand stores would be rolled out in the next two
to three months, Flipkart's store already shows a newly launched Puma brand store. The store
stocks only Puma merchandise and has been styled to reflect Puma's image as a premium
lifestyle brand. Deals and discounts have been cloaked under 'featured picks' that one sees lower
down in the virtual store, unlike in the main Flipkart store where good deals are highlighted.

In India, on the other hand, internet penetration is just 205 million out of 1.2 billion, and registered voters (814 million) vastly outnumber social media users (103 million). So it may be premature to call these parliamentary elections India’s ‘first social media elections’. But a significant amount of the political discourse and campaigning has definitely shifted to the third and fourth screens.   • 4. 3 C. E-commerce Latest Buzz Snapdeal.com may hit $1 billion sales this year Snapdeal is literally snapping at Flipkart's heels. Its sales might even be ahead of its older and better known e-commerce peer. Snapdeal's founder and CEO Kunal Bahl indicated to TOI that it would hit $1 billion in sales (or gross merchandise value, as the ecommerce world calls it) in 2014, a year ahead of target. Flipkart, based on its February numbers, had said earlier this month that it had touched an annualized run-rate of $1 billion, again indicating that the full year 2014 would see the company achieve that landmark. E-commerce is growing fast: Amazon net sales 2001-2012 (USD billions) from $2.5 billion to $61 billion – ~43% outside North America Flipkart to co-develop virtual fashion brand stores Flipkart is planning a blitzkrieg in its fashion lifestyle category that has helped bring in a new demographic of online shoppers, including younger buyers in the age group of 20 to 27 years and those in tier II and III cities. While the company has said that co-developed brand stores would be rolled out in the next two to three months, Flipkart's store already shows a newly launched Puma brand store. The store stocks only Puma merchandise and has been styled to reflect Puma's image as a premium lifestyle brand. Deals and discounts have been cloaked under 'featured picks' that one sees lower down in the virtual store, unlike in the main Flipkart store where good deals are highlighted.
