What Parents Can Expect from Objectives

            December 2011
Meet Dr. Dan D. Yang

Optoelectronics. She has 3 successful
startups as well as some 20 patented/
pending inventions. Dr. Yang is Forbes
top Ten Women Entrepreneurs/
Mompreneurs to Watch (2011).

Dr. Yang has been married for 20 years. She is a mother to 2 bright girls. Cissy, the older daughter, is
senior in high school graduating as the youngest student in her school's history. She is heading to
Princeton to study Architecture in 2012. Hera is almost 3-years-old and is the inspiration behind
VINCI's technologically advanced learning systems for young children.

Dr. Yang enjoys traveling around the world, including Africa and the Middle East, as well as wine,
variety of cuisines and cooks international dishes.
Why Do We Need To Set Learning Objectives for
Young Children?

1. First 5 years are the most critical because that's when habits
   and attitudes are built

2. We want to prepare our children so that they have the
confidence and capability to start school

3. The world is becoming more and more competitive

4. We love our children and want them to enjoy themselves as
   long as they live

5. Helping them succeed brings you and your child happiness
How Did We Design VINCI Learning Objectives?

1. Publications (pediatricians books on Age Norms)
2. Recent Research (studies on how children learn in early years,
   how the brain works)
3. Montessori curriculum
4. High Scope curriculum
5. State published recommendations for early childhood education
6. A combination of theoretical analysis, practical considerations
   and possibilities with digital technology
VINCI Learning Levels

Level 1 - The Curious (18 m ~ 2.5 yrs)
Level 2 - The Confident (2.5 ~ 3.5 yrs)
Level 3 – The Capable (3.5 ~ 5 yrs)

Level = Age correspondence is only
an estimate. The key is for parents to
look for signs of readiness.
VINCI Learning Level 1:
The Curious
• Walks
• Explores everything
• Listens to Story Books
• Starts communicating using
    short words (mainly nouns)
• Attention span – few minutes

What Parents can use the VINCI program for:

• Music: play and dance with Baby Haha
• Have your child interact with Story Book The Ugly Duckling
• Show game series Explorations in Explore Mode before Game Mode
• We do NOT recommend starting in Game Mode
• Limit time of play to 15 to 30 minutes a day
• Encourage your child to solve problems and to “keep trying”
What can you expect from VINCI Learning
Level 1 program:

• Increased vocabulary (nouns and some verbs)
• Increased attention span
• Recognition of emotions
• Some sense of quantity (single/plural)
• General knowledge (e.g. foods, animals, people, music instruments)
• Gaining confidence

Enjoy your child's sparkling eyes when he/she learn about animals.
Make sure to spend time watching and supporting him/her.
Practical Tips for Level 1: The Curious Toddlers

• Take the time to follow your child's lead
• Build observational skills now – show children the surroundings
    and point out interesting objects
• Use comparatives (more and less/single and plural) in daily life
• Example: “Look! Mommy is eating a lot more bread than you!” or
“How many bananas do you want? One or two?”
VINCI Learning Level 2:
The Confident
• Able to talk in simple sentences
• Asserting Independence, asking WHY
• Able to complete VINCI Level 1 games
• Attention span of at least 10 minutes

How to Use the VINCI program:

• Continue Reading Story Books and Playing Music Videos
• Start The World: Africa game series
• Do not worry if some games seem too difficult – come back later
• The best order to learn in: East, West, North and South
• Limit time of play to 30 to 45 minutes a day
• Do NOT tell your child how to play - let him/her figure it out
What can you expect with VINCI Learning
Level 2 program:

• Sentence building (e.g. using adjectives, directional words)
• Understanding more detailed categories (sub-categories)
• Listens and pays attention when you answer “WHY” questions
• Counting and understanding initial numbers
• General knowledge (continent, country, and region as well as
    categories, animals, people, culture, etc.)

Enjoy your child's sparkling eyes when he/she is able to find answers
or shoot the right targets.
Practical Tips for Level 2 The Confident
    Toddlers/Preschoolers

• Use daily objects as conversation subjects to support your child's continued
curiosity and thinking skills. E.g. “Do you know why we should put your
    winter coat on today?”
• Help your child learn categories and subcategories. E.g. “Dogs are animals.
We are humans.” or “Strawberry is a type of fruit.” or “Apple is another type
of fruit that grows on trees.”
• Research has shown that when you have numeracy, you have literacy. Help
your child build Math skill early. Use cheerios, fruits, blocks, etc., to play the
number game. Ask your child to return a certain number of objects to affirm
    his/her understanding.
VINCI’s Next Webinar is in the works!

VINCI Level 3: The Capable and more will be
         explained at the next seminar.
Thank you!
