1. Question 3
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why
2. Publisher
The media institution I have chosen to distribute my magazine is the Bauer
Media Group
The Bauer Media Group is Europe’s largest privately owned publishing group.
The group offers over 600 magazines across 17 countries. Not only do they
just publish magazines but they also have over 400 digital products and 50 TV
and radio stations.
3. Why choose them?
I have chosen this media group to publish and distribute RIFT magazine, as
they are a renowned group around the world and have many engaged
audiences that are loyal and diverse.
Also as they have a very wide audience and popularity, I think they would be
able to sell my magazine to the right audience to which I am targeting very
easily.
They also publish Q magazines so they have the professional knowledge and
skills to how to take RIFT magazine to the top of the charts.
4. Distribution
RIFT magazine is suited to be perfect for teenagers to young adults, which
makes it very different to other magazines, this means that we also have a
very big audience to cover.
Therefore if my magazine would be distributed by Bauer Media Group, I
would gain very loyal target audiences which would stay for a very long time.
5. Apps and social media
Mobile phones have become very popular in the modern age and people
spend a lot of their time using them. The Bauer Media institution as produced
many apps for their magazines they offer. Since teenagers use their mobiles
more than they would read magazines, I think it would be preferred by them
to use a RIFT app instead. This would also mean that they can access RIFT
magazine content wherever and whenever they want. It would also help
environmentally as less physical copies would need to be produced therefore
reduce deforestation.
A lot of people, including adults, also spend a lot of their time on social
media, RIFT magazine on social media would allow readers to get the latest
news and information as well as stay in touch with RIFT. It would allow the
younger audience to be more interactive and participate in events and
competitions.
6. Sales
The Bauer Media Group would be distributing my magazine, however not all
of the published magazines sent to stores around the UK would be sold
leading to a producer surplus (where more is supplied than needed). To
overcome this issue, the magazines that are not sold can be returned and
recycled, ready to be made in into the next magazine issue. This is both
environmentally friendly and cost effective which saves the company money.
