Students from the National Institute of Mass Communication and Journalism in Ahmedabad took an educational trip to Mumbai to learn about various aspects of the media industry. They visited Zee News to learn about the news production process. They also visited the Daily Saamana newspaper to learn about its selection process and policy. Additionally, they visited the set of the TV show Veer Shivaji to observe production processes. Finally, they visited Prime Focus, one of India's largest post-production houses, to see the software and processes used for film polishing.

1. Students of NIMCJ on a dive to Mumbai for Information and
Education about Media
Ahmedabad:-Recently, National Institute of Mass Communication and
Journalism had organized an Educational Trip to Mumbai. The Media
included Zee news channel, veer Shivaji serial setup, Saamana
newspaper and Prime focus post production.
The news editor of Zee News, Ms Nivruti Mohan explained the students
about news production process, how news are edited and modelled
and how to provide a finishing through graphics, animation with the
help of available software, how the process of data uplink are done.
Students also got an opportunity to view zee news library where they
store all the needed footage that can be helpful in their near future.
Next they visited Daily Saamana Newspaper where student were
informed all about the working structure of saamana newspaper. How
news is selected according to the policy of the newspaper. How this
news selection process helps to create a distinction of it’s own in these
multitude of mass mediums available. Students had an interactive
session with Assistant editor of samna Atul joshi and Chief Editor of
Saamana (Hindi) Prem Shukla, they informed the students about the
policy of the paper and it’s day to day activities.
Nimcj student got an opportunity to visit the sets of Veer Shivaji serial
(broadcast on Colors), here the students saw how sets are created and
the various production processes involved in a daily soap. Students had
a live experience of the on field work activities of a production house.
They even interacted with the serial’s Director, Production Head and
lead actor of serial.
2. Lastly, Nimcj Students visited Prime Focus, which is one of the largest
post production house of India, employing around 7000 media
professionals. Here the students saw the various softwares used to
polish a film in terms of sequence matching, color correction, sound
correction and video effects for it’s final print release.
