In line with these advances, an extraordinary scientific program that com-
prehensively covers the latest advances in bioscience research has been
arranged. Multidisciplinarity, interdisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity are
thus essential characteristics of this meeting.

The Organization has worked intensively to make this Congress a most out-

                                          establish new friendships and collaborations.

Bio-Rad’s QX100™ Droplet Digital™ PCR system provides an absolute measure of target DNA
molecules with unrivalled precision and accuracy. The QX100 system partitions each sample into
20,000 individual nanolitre-sized droplets. PCR-positive and PCR-negative droplets from every
sample are then counted to provide absolute target quantification in digital form. The QX100 system

  • 3. WELCOME LETTER It is both an honor and a pleasure for the Spanish Society of Biochemistry CONTENTS and Molecular Biology (SEBBM) to organize the 22 nd IUBMB & 37th FEBS Congress. The standards of modern Spain in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology are historically high. Attesting to this fact, the SEBBM is a very 1 Welcome Letter active organization encompassing 21 interest groups and more than 4000 2 Committees members. SEBBM, one of FEBS founding societies, has already organized two successful FEBS meetings (Madrid, 1969, and Barcelona, 1996). And 4 Key Information now Seville, being an ancient, beautiful and welcoming city, home to a very 8 Floor Plan dynamic biochemical community, will host for the very first time this unique and joint IUBMB-FEBS event. 10 Exhibitors 11 Exhibitor & Poster Area Based on recent spectacular advances in “-omic” disciplines and informa- tion technology, multidisciplinarity and integration have become key fea- 12 Poster Sessions tures of post-genomic and proteomic research. Multidisciplinarity, interdisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity are thus essential characteristics of this meeting. The Organization has worked intensively to make this Congress a most out- standing experience that lives up to the highest expectations of the par- ticipant colleagues. We are convinced that this meeting will offer a singular opportunity for the attendees to engage in fruitful discussions, as well as establish new friendships and collaborations.
