WHERE
WE ARE
Is strengthened and firmly
consolidated since the
foundation in September,
2007. Our of ces are located
in Aveiro, São João da
Madeira and Coimbra. That’s
why the strategic location
of our of ces has ensured a
close relationship with the
academic world, holding
Master’s Internships and
project developments with
the most prestigious
national universities. The
cities of Coimbra and Aveiro,
aside from other
cultural and leisure
attractions, are known
worldwide for its
universities.
Aveiro
We have our headquarters in Aveiro since September, 2007.
The existence of a cluster of Telecommunications in Aveiro,
conducive to the establishment of strategic partnerships
and synergies, was decisive in the choice of Aveiro for our
headquarters. The proximity of the Institute of
Telecommunications of Aveiro pole, the headquarters of PT
Inovação, SA and Nokia Siemens Networks pole, were also
important in this choice.
The highly engaging entrepreneurial spirit in the city,
Inova-Ria association, the support of the Unit of Technology
Transfer from the university of Aveiro and the University of
Aveiro Business Incubator (IEUA) were also essential.
São João da Madeira
In October, 2008, we stablished our presence in São João da
Madeira. S. João da Madeira (SJM) is a small council of 8
km2, located in the Northern Region of Portugal, which is
part of the Entre Douro e Vouga sub-region, located 40 km
from oporto. The industrial council has one of the highest
rates of enterprises per square meter at a national level,
and has been decisive for us to take this big step towards
Coimbra
We have a new office in Coimbra since September, 2013. We
decided to have a new office and the best place to be in
2013 was the city of Coimbra. The entrepreneurial spirit in
the city, the University of Coimbra and its transfer of
technology, the industrial poles in the city, namely the
Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN), named in 2010 as the best
incubator in the world and the Coimbra iParque were
our growth in Portugal. In October 11th, Aníbal Cavaco Silva
participated in the inauguration of our Innovation Lab in
São João da Madeira by experiencing our applications.
Created by us in 2011, UbiLL working as a platform for
exchanging user-driven innovation practices in Ubiquitous
and Invisible Computing technology.
essential to nominate Coimbra to be the city for our new
office. With this new facilities, we intend to be closer to the
University community and also to our new partners.

NET.MEDE PRO@ANACOM
FIWARE
The Net.mede Pro is a platform for monitoring the
quality of service for Internet access provided by an ISP in
a region or country, based on a system of open
participation, able to extract metrics based on a set of
tests performed by the end-users in residential
environment.
This platform allows any citizen with Internet access to
evaluate in a simple, safely and accurately way a set of
technical parameters related to the service provided by the
end user ISP. Therefore, the end-user is able to measure the
real speed of his internet connection on his PC, smartphone
and tablet. The end-user is also allowed to consult his
history of conducted tests and to compare the obtained
results with the internet speed connection contracted with
his operator.
Subsequently, the Net.mede Pro ensures that responsible
companies will provide a service that fulfils at least the
minimal requirements in terms of quality and monitoring of
signal.
The FIWARE platform provides a powerful set of
APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) that
ease the development of Smart Applications in
multiple vertical sectors.
This platform plays a significant role in our Smart City
strategy, playing the part of the standardisation layer that
brings all its Smart Cities’ solutions and data sources
together.
FIWARE has allowed Ubiwhere to set up a sophisticated
Smart City infrastructure powered by standards and
interoperable at its core. With the support of Ubiwhere,
Porto has been a pioneer city adopting FIWARE standards
and together have developed the interfaces bringing access
to real-time, contextual environmental data from 75 fixed
and mobile units (monitoring stations) located across the
city.

UMETER
The uMeter QoS is a Quality of Service (QoS)
Measurement System for Internet access provided
by an ISP in a region or country.
As a crowdsourcing data, QoS platform allows the
user to see the aggregated results in his and other
ISP in his street, city or country.
In the telecom’s regulators perspective, this platform
provides a real sense of the quality of the service
provided by the ISP to their customers, while still
allowing a more effective oversight over the
competitive market in the Internet area.
Customer Self-care and Administration Web platform:
Differential access profiles;
User connection history (with KPI);
Comparison between customers' Internet connections
and equivalent ISP services in their area;
Proprietary mechanism to identify the uniqueness of an
Internet access;
Generation of statistical reports;
Application for desktop (Windows, MAC OS and Linux)
and mobile devices (Android and iOS);
Measure of the following network indicators:
Latency, jitter (packet delay variation) and pack loss;
Download/upload speed;
Net neutrality;
Traffic shaping;
Web page access and load time.
WMAN_NG
Metropolitan and universally accessible
communication infrastructure that holds very low
energy consumption requirements and low bitrate.
The infrastructure enables the implementation of M2M
services, which typically demand high network coverage. The
main challenge of the project is to determine the adequate
level of commitment in terms of the network infrastructure that
would enable both universal coverage and low energy
consumption from the endpoints.
Objectives:
Investigate the possibility of creating a connection
between communication infrastructures currently
available, with minimal addition of new access points and
with a particular focus on energy saving of endpoints in
order to create an access network with the appropriate
level of capillarity.

The two project partners (Université Pierre and Marie Curie (UPMC) and
Ubiwhere) will develop the uMeter’s capabilities in order to allow its
services to be commercially deployed for use in 4G and eventually, in the
near future, 5G environments.
The goal of FLEXMETER is to collect more specific and reliable
measurements, targeted at mobile communications and LTE in particular,
since the LTE testbeds enable us to alter the characteristics of the wireless
environment, so we can remotely test our product in different 4G
environments.Through examination of the experiment results and the
monitoring of its deployment on the testbeds, we will be able to analyze
areas in which testbed SFA and OMF control systems can be ameliorated.
Furthermore, the project partners intentions are to provide feedback
regarding the current uMeter infrastructure while simultaneously
improving the commercial uMeter solution.
The FLEXMETER is a co-financed
european project that will deploy the
uMeter a Quality-of-Service Internet
access software, on the LTE platforms
offered by the FLEX project.
SELFNET - H2020
The SELFNET is an european project that consists in a network
management framework to achieve self-organizing capabilities
in managing network infrastructures by automatically detecting
and mitigating a range of common network problems that are
currently still being manually addressed by network operators,
thereby significantly reducing operational costs and improving
user experience.
SELFNET is designed within this economic and business context
to substantially reduce operational costs of network operators
by automating a significant number of current labour-intensive
network management tasks.

SONATA
The SONATA project is an EU-funded project (Horizon
2020) and part of the 5G-PPP initiative. The
innovative project has a 30 month workplan, recently
started in July 2015. SONATA is a highly collaborative
effort, with 15 partners representing telecom
operators, manufacturers, system integrators, service
providers, SME developers, research and academic
institutes (such as ATOS Spain SA, Telefónica
Investigación y Desarrollo S.A.U., PT Inovação e
Sistemas SA, British Telecom PLC, NEC Europe Ltd,
iMinds VZW, Thales Communications and Security SAS,
and many other renowned companies from Europe).
SONATA addresses the significant challenges associated with
both the development and deployment of the complex services
envisioned for 5G networks and empowered by the SDN
(Software Defined Networking) and NFV (Network Function
Virtualization) technologies.
SONATA targets both the flexible programmability of software
networks and the optimization of their deployments. The project
will support network function chaining and orchestration, make
service platforms modular and easier to customize to the needs
of different service providers, and introduce a specialized DevOps
model for supporting developers.
Sonata main goals are:
Reduce time-to-market of networked services: SONATA
streamlines development with abstract programming models,
SDK and a DevOps model that integrates operators,
manufacturers and third-party developers;
Optimize resources and reduce costs of service deployment and
operation: SONATA orchestrates complex services to connectivity,
computing and storage resources, and automatically
re-configures running services;
Accelerate industry adoption of software networks: SONATA
supports the full service lifecycle: development, testing,
orchestration, deployment, management and operations, and will
define a roadmap for uptake of its results towards stakeholders'
larger transition to SDN/NFV.
SONATA - H2020
The Widemonitor is a R&D co-funded
project developed by the Ubiwhere,
Wavecom and IT- Institute of
Telecommunications’ consortium.
This project aims to develop a radio spectrum
monitoring system, covering a wide range of
frequencies, corresponding to the spectrum
where 90% of wireless communications are
supported.
The need for higher spatial resolution in the
spectral monitoring, which arises from the fact
that communications, the particular area of
coverage at high frequencies, are making
increasing spectral reuse and channel with a
high density of radio transmitters, requires that
any monitoring system makes available
spectrum probes, installed in large quantities, in
a tight space matrix, keeping system costs
(prices per probe) compatible with the budgets
of regulatory and supervisory bodies.
The collected measurements are stored in a
centralized, multi-tenant with high availability
and able to handle high volumes of statistical
data, enabling: sorting, searching, graphs,
statistics and alerts. The regulator must have an
effective intelligence on the collected data. The
communication parameters/measurements
collected to the centralized database should be
easy, economical and safe, using the Internet
and ensuring the security of data sent.
The operational management of remote
devices, for support and maintenance, must be
simple and fluid. The measurement bandwidth
should be as broad as possible, covering bands
from 30MHz to 6GHz (UHF and microwave),
more relevant in wireless emissions, and where
the monitoring network with high spatial
resolution has advantage (higher up) to identify
and measure emissions that mitigate a lot from
distance, preventing its monitoring of otherwise
than in proximity. The probes should be easy to
install in a wide range of scenarios: urban,
semi-urban or rural; a logic of monolithic
installation, not dependent on the existence of
utility power distribution and characteristics
that minimise vandalism or theft.

rprobe supports the latest digital TV broadcast
standards: DVB-T, DVB-T2/Lite and DVB-C. It
can collect several DVB-T signal parameters
such as, signal level (RSSI), modulation error
rate (MER), signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), among
other important DVB parameters, showing
these ones in real-time or in a statistical way,
allowing representation, identification and
characterisation.
This product ensures that the companies
responsible for deploying DTT networks will
provide a service that fulfils the broadcast’s
signal requirements.
The innovative modular solution is based on a
high level of engineering expertise, as well as
on User Interface (UI) designing, making it
effective and user friendly. It also allows the

ing unit (rNode) and the centralised monitoring
platform (rcenter):
rNode: The easiest way to measure the DVB-T/T2
signal quality parameters and transmit them to the
centralised monitoring platform (rcenter) via its 3G
interface.
rCenter: A cloud based centralised system that gath-
ers measurements from rnodes and provides an
extensive set of statistics, graphs and reports. It is a
powerful database which allows the end-user to
select a time frame where he can consult in detail
each measure.
rInstaller: A full installation wizard that guides the
installer and collects data results in an automatic
report for each rnode installation process, thus being
a priceless tool for large scale implementations.

THE
ARMY
The success of organisations is in
its human capital. With that in
mind, we provide our employees
with the best working conditions
which enables them to ensure
mutual fidelity in relationships, and
the adoption of non-discriminatory
employment practices. In this area,
are considered aspects related to
the conditions of employment,
health, hygiene and safety at work.
No less important are issues
related to valuing people,
particularly in terms of vocational
training, skills development and
careers.
In performing its duties, our
employees should be responsible
and cooperative, favouring good
environment, respect and good
personal relationship, with
colleagues or with superiors, and
these with their subordinates. In
their professional relationship, they
should promote the exchange of
information and cooperation and
foster team spirit. We also expect
their contribution to the
generation of decisions, be
supportive with the
decision-maker, assume their
responsibilities and maintain their
solidarity in implementing the
same.
1.
EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES AND
WORKPLACE DIVERSITY
All employees within the company are treated
equally and not disadvantaged by prejudices. The
best person for a job or a promotion is the person
who earns that position based on his
qualifications, experience, knowledge and work
performed. We value a non-discriminatory
behaviour, condemning any form of
discrimination, whether on grounds of race,
ethnicity, sex, age, disability, religious belief,
political opinion or affiliation, any form of sexual
or psychological harassment, verbal or physical
conduct of humiliation, coercion or threat.
2.
ENGAGEMENT
The employees engagement in the companies
they work for are very important to achieve new
and better results/goals throughout the years.
It is known that a employee performs a better
work when motivated and engaged with the
company values and culture.
3.
TRAINING
We value our employees’ skills, since they are the
most important resource that we have in the
company. Training and career improvement is very
important for us and we preserve that right to all
of us.
Taking in consideration that everyone has specific
needs in terms of their roles in the company, if
each employee feels the need for a specific
training that is not in the roadmap of trainings,
all their necessities are heard, matter for us and if
we see that it is important, both for them and for
the company, they are free to go and share the
knowledge with the other colleagues after.
4.
TEAM BUILDING AND TEAMWORK
We have a strong focus on the talent, inspiration,
energy and passion of our people, since these
capabilities are what drives us forward. We believe
that motivating our workers lies in team building
activities that generate a sense of belonging and
improves the way people interact and work
together.
In 2015 we had our 8th anniversary, and the
Christmas dinner. We also celebrate our
ubibirthdays throughout the year. To keep creative
dynamic we gather one ubibreakfast per month,
that is a kind of a brainstorming session, where
everyone gets to know the work in progress and
contribute with ideas and suggestions for the
improvement sessions. It is also at this time that
new employees present themselves to their new
colleagues.

CUSTOMERS
In the extremely competitive market we live in
today, achieving and keeping clients are the
biggest challenges that companies face. We
need to have best-of-breed resources to
recognise, distinguish and interact with our
customers. We value our customers’ needs and
want to be where and when we are most
needed. We deliver the best solutions for our
customers always on time, on budget and on
schedule.
PARTNERS
Partnerships and businesses are always hand
in hand. Having a partnership can help in
several ways. One partner may have one set of
talents and the other may have another set of
talents and if combined, the success of the
business will be even more effective regarding
the share of knowledge, ideas and synergies.
Our partners are very important for the success
of our business, which allows us to offer the
best solutions for our clients.
With that in mind, we maintain a proficient
relationship with all interested parties,
establishing a relationship based in principles
of trust and transparency, which will help in
the contribution of a win-win logic for both the
company and partners development.
SUPPLIERS
Our suppliers play an important role in our
work and performance. With that responsibility
in mind we have signed the “Punctual Payment
Commitment to Suppliers” letter.
This way, we are compromised with our
suppliers to:
1. Give clear and precise instructions so that
payments are made until the date of invoice
payment;
2. Find the necessary means and funding for
the payment;
3. Request the suspension of this commitment
whenever (internal or external reason) it

QUALITY ASSURANCE
Quality has been a strategic strength at our company since our establishment
in 2007.
Our strategy has a deep focus on improving our internal processes in order
to increase cost efficiency and provide quality products and services to
meet and surpass our clients’ expectations. For that purpose, we have kept
a continuous bet on the market’s best practices for Quality Assurance and
have been awarded with quality certifications such as ISO 9001 and
CMMI-DEV.
ISO 9001
ISO 9001 is the International
Standard for Quality Management
Systems (QMS). It recognises our
company ability to offer products
and services that meet all
customers’ requirements. We are
acknowledged as a client-focused
company - driven by a strong
leadership, based on consistent
management processes and
valuing continuous improvement.
The ISO 9001 standard has eight
quality management principles,
such as Customer focus, Leadership,
Involvement of people, Process
approach, System approach to
management, Continual
improvement, Factual approach to
decision making, Mutually
beneficial supplier relationships,
and these principles are
Ubiwhere’s focus.
CMMI LEVEL 3
CMMI (Capability Maturity Model
Integration) is a process
improvement approach that
provides organisations with the
essential elements of effective
processes, which will improve their
performance. CMMI-based process
improvement includes identifying
our organisation’s process
strengths and weaknesses and
making process changes to turn
those weaknesses into strengths.
We were the youngest Portuguese
company to reach CMMI Level 2
and are continuously working on
our processes to soon get to
Higher Maturity levels.
CMMI Level 3 was reached in 2015
and it was a very important step
for our commitment to product
quality, production efficiency and
the ability to reduce associated
costs.
NP 4457
NP4457 (Portuguese Norm for
Research, Development and
Innovation) specifies the
requirements for a R&D and
Innovation Management System
in order to help organizations
develop and implement a RDI
policy that increases efficiency
and effectiveness within an
innovation context.
SCRUM METHODOLOGY
In the area of Project
Management we have also been
carrying out the Scrum
Methodology. This methodology
is focused on individuals and
interactions, being an interactive
agile software development
framework for the management
of product development. It is
intended that it enables teams to
be self-organised by encouraging
a close online collaboration of
all team members with the help
of daily face-to-face meetings
that will be essential for the
team to work as a unit to reach a
common goal.

CMMI-DEV LEVEL 3
CMMI stands for “Capability Maturity Model
Integration” and is a model that provides
appraisal and training for process improvement in
organizations.
The CMMI version 1.3 contains three areas: services
(CMMI-SVC), acquisition (CMMI-ACQ) and development
(CMMI-DEV).
The CMMI area that we work for was CMMI-DEV, a
model used for process improvement in organizations
that develop products. CMMI for Development contains
practices that cover project management, process
management, systems engineering, hardware
engineering, software engineering, and other
supporting processes used in development and
maintenance.
Ubiwhere reached CMMI-DEV Level 3 that includes the
following Process Areas:
- Decision Analysis and Resolution (DAR),
- Integrated Project Management (IPM);
- Organizational Process Definition (OPD);
- Organizational Process Focus (OPF);

TURNOVER
AND GROWTH
IN 2015
Despite the strongly recessive
context of the domestic market,
we managed to stabilise our
turnover in 2015.This result
confirms the strategy followed by
the company to establish itself as
a provider of service excellence in
ICT.
Given that we began operations
in September 2007, the amounts
recorded in several years show a
significant growth of the
company. We now expect a
favourable trend in the coming
years resulting from income
derived from business carried out
in international markets.
Our culture helps us to adapt to
the most demanding
environments and to better
understand our clients’business
requirements.
Our ambition is to invest,
financially and intellectually,
where and when our contribution
is most needed. Our EBITDA and
EBIT have kept the good values in
2015.

  • 6. SECTION ONE | UBIWHERE UBIWHERE | ANNUAL REPORT 20155 8 years of Ubiwhere’s history. 8 years of achievements and, most important, 8 years of success. 2015 was a challenging year and a remarkable time in our company. With a big ambition of doing better everyday, we will maintain our strategy and focus aligned with our competences to research and develop bleeding edge technologies, innovate in every project and create out-of-the-box intelectual property. At the end of this year, we continue to prosper with a turnover performance reaching a value of +1M¤, which lead to an EBITDA of 48%. Looking at our growth over the last few years, I can say that I am extremely proud of what we have achieved, and even more excited looking forward to a promising future. Since we work in various sectors of activity, we know that tecnology companies always need to be envolved and need to know so much more than just technology itself. For our company, it’s crucial to know our customers’ needs and understand every single detail in each area. With new partnerships and new projects in all sectors, we continued to invest in the development, design and implementation of innovative solutions, always with high economic, scientific and technological potential. R&I continues to be very important to us, delivering the solutions that the market needs to succeed. We will continue to foster a culture of innovation and creativity, because our ability is to imagine and develop new tools for dynamic and challenging environments. I would like to thank and honor the efforts of all those who contributed to the attainment of the targeted objectives. Our employees are what make this company greater and all together we are confident with the next year to pursue our targeted goals. We wish you to keeping up with us. Best regards, Rui A. Costa MESSAGE FROM THE CEO
  • 7. SECTION ONE | UBIWHERE UBIWHERE | ANNUAL REPORT 2015 6 Born at Aveiro University Business Incubator (IEUA) in September, 2007, Ubiwhere was a dream came true of 3 young and enthusiastic Telecommunications Institute researchers in partnership with PT Inovação, thriving for making the difference and using technology to improve population’s quality of life. In eight years a multidisciplinary team was built, with skills acquired as a result of the constant headhunting in different environments- either in academic or industrial context - in order to pursuit innovation and entrepreneurship, vital to a company that always wanted to be known for its innovative solutions creation, inside and outside of Portugal. With a specific customers portfolio, from National Goverment to the majors telecom operators (such SONAE and PT Inovação), Ubiwhere’s work has been noticed among these last years specially on R&I European Projects, experience of the three founding partners, Since the beginning, we counted, with specialised know-how on high-tech products and services in areas such as telecommunications and next generation networks. • 15. SECTION ONE | UBIWHERE UBIWHERE | ANNUAL REPORT 2015 14 NET.MEDE PRO@ANACOM FIWARE The Net.mede Pro is a platform for monitoring the quality of service for Internet access provided by an ISP in a region or country, based on a system of open participation, able to extract metrics based on a set of tests performed by the end-users in residential environment. This platform allows any citizen with Internet access to evaluate in a simple, safely and accurately way a set of technical parameters related to the service provided by the end user ISP. Therefore, the end-user is able to measure the real speed of his internet connection on his PC, smartphone and tablet. The end-user is also allowed to consult his history of conducted tests and to compare the obtained results with the internet speed connection contracted with his operator. Subsequently, the Net.mede Pro ensures that responsible companies will provide a service that fulfils at least the minimal requirements in terms of quality and monitoring of signal. The FIWARE platform provides a powerful set of APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) that ease the development of Smart Applications in multiple vertical sectors. This platform plays a significant role in our Smart City strategy, playing the part of the standardisation layer that brings all its Smart Cities’ solutions and data sources together. FIWARE has allowed Ubiwhere to set up a sophisticated Smart City infrastructure powered by standards and interoperable at its core. With the support of Ubiwhere, Porto has been a pioneer city adopting FIWARE standards and together have developed the interfaces bringing access to real-time, contextual environmental data from 75 fixed and mobile units (monitoring stations) located across the city.
  • 16. UBIWHERE | ANNUAL REPORT 201515 SECTION ONE | UBIWHERE UMETER The uMeter QoS is a Quality of Service (QoS) Measurement System for Internet access provided by an ISP in a region or country. As a crowdsourcing data, QoS platform allows the user to see the aggregated results in his and other ISP in his street, city or country. In the telecom’s regulators perspective, this platform provides a real sense of the quality of the service provided by the ISP to their customers, while still allowing a more effective oversight over the competitive market in the Internet area. Customer Self-care and Administration Web platform: Differential access profiles; User connection history (with KPI); Comparison between customers' Internet connections and equivalent ISP services in their area; Proprietary mechanism to identify the uniqueness of an Internet access; Generation of statistical reports; Application for desktop (Windows, MAC OS and Linux) and mobile devices (Android and iOS); Measure of the following network indicators: Latency, jitter (packet delay variation) and pack loss; Download/upload speed; Net neutrality; Traffic shaping; Web page access and load time. WMAN_NG Metropolitan and universally accessible communication infrastructure that holds very low energy consumption requirements and low bitrate. The infrastructure enables the implementation of M2M services, which typically demand high network coverage. The main challenge of the project is to determine the adequate level of commitment in terms of the network infrastructure that would enable both universal coverage and low energy consumption from the endpoints. Objectives: Investigate the possibility of creating a connection between communication infrastructures currently available, with minimal addition of new access points and with a particular focus on energy saving of endpoints in order to create an access network with the appropriate level of capillarity. SECTION ONE | UBIWHERE UBIWHERE | ANNUAL REPORT 2015 16 The two project partners (Université Pierre and Marie Curie (UPMC) and Ubiwhere) will develop the uMeter’s capabilities in order to allow its services to be commercially deployed for use in 4G and eventually, in the near future, 5G environments. The goal of FLEXMETER is to collect more specific and reliable measurements, targeted at mobile communications and LTE in particular, since the LTE testbeds enable us to alter the characteristics of the wireless environment, so we can remotely test our product in different 4G environments.Through examination of the experiment results and the monitoring of its deployment on the testbeds, we will be able to analyze areas in which testbed SFA and OMF control systems can be ameliorated. Furthermore, the project partners intentions are to provide feedback regarding the current uMeter infrastructure while simultaneously improving the commercial uMeter solution. The FLEXMETER is a co-financed european project that will deploy the uMeter a Quality-of-Service Internet access software, on the LTE platforms offered by the FLEX project. SELFNET - H2020 The SELFNET is an european project that consists in a network management framework to achieve self-organizing capabilities in managing network infrastructures by automatically detecting and mitigating a range of common network problems that are currently still being manually addressed by network operators, thereby significantly reducing operational costs and improving user experience. • 18. UBIWHERE | ANNUAL REPORT 201517 SECTION ONE | UBIWHERE SONATA The SONATA project is an EU-funded project (Horizon 2020) and part of the 5G-PPP initiative. The innovative project has a 30 month workplan, recently started in July 2015. SONATA is a highly collaborative effort, with 15 partners representing telecom operators, manufacturers, system integrators, service providers, SME developers, research and academic institutes (such as ATOS Spain SA, Telefónica Investigación y Desarrollo S.A.U., PT Inovação e Sistemas SA, British Telecom PLC, NEC Europe Ltd, iMinds VZW, Thales Communications and Security SAS, and many other renowned companies from Europe). SONATA addresses the significant challenges associated with both the development and deployment of the complex services envisioned for 5G networks and empowered by the SDN (Software Defined Networking) and NFV (Network Function Virtualization) technologies. SONATA targets both the flexible programmability of software networks and the optimization of their deployments. The project will support network function chaining and orchestration, make service platforms modular and easier to customize to the needs of different service providers, and introduce a specialized DevOps model for supporting developers. Sonata main goals are: Reduce time-to-market of networked services: SONATA streamlines development with abstract programming models, SDK and a DevOps model that integrates operators, manufacturers and third-party developers; Optimize resources and reduce costs of service deployment and operation: SONATA orchestrates complex services to connectivity, computing and storage resources, and automatically re-configures running services; Accelerate industry adoption of software networks: SONATA supports the full service lifecycle: development, testing, orchestration, deployment, management and operations, and will define a roadmap for uptake of its results towards stakeholders' larger transition to SDN/NFV. SONATA - H2020 The Widemonitor is a R&D co-funded project developed by the Ubiwhere, Wavecom and IT- Institute of Telecommunications’ consortium. This project aims to develop a radio spectrum monitoring system, covering a wide range of frequencies, corresponding to the spectrum where 90% of wireless communications are supported. The need for higher spatial resolution in the spectral monitoring, which arises from the fact that communications, the particular area of coverage at high frequencies, are making increasing spectral reuse and channel with a high density of radio transmitters, requires that any monitoring system makes available spectrum probes, installed in large quantities, in a tight space matrix, keeping system costs (prices per probe) compatible with the budgets of regulatory and supervisory bodies. The collected measurements are stored in a centralized, multi-tenant with high availability and able to handle high volumes of statistical data, enabling: sorting, searching, graphs, statistics and alerts. The regulator must have an effective intelligence on the collected data. The communication parameters/measurements collected to the centralized database should be easy, economical and safe, using the Internet and ensuring the security of data sent. The operational management of remote devices, for support and maintenance, must be simple and fluid. The measurement bandwidth should be as broad as possible, covering bands from 30MHz to 6GHz (UHF and microwave), more relevant in wireless emissions, and where the monitoring network with high spatial resolution has advantage (higher up) to identify and measure emissions that mitigate a lot from distance, preventing its monitoring of otherwise than in proximity. The probes should be easy to install in a wide range of scenarios: urban, semi-urban or rural; a logic of monolithic installation, not dependent on the existence of utility power distribution and characteristics that minimise vandalism or theft.
