This grant funds a Clinical Nurse Specialist position to work with current Gerontological CNS in providing education, mentoring / support, developing / measuring outcomes for knowledge, practice change and patient outcomes by: Expanding NICHE training at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta beyond Acute Care nurses to include Emergency Department nurses; 2) Introducing NICHE training at Piedmont Fayette, Piedmont Newnan and Piedmont Mountainside for Acute Care and Emergency Department nurses; 3) Introducing NICHE training for nursing staff at two of our Long-Term Care facility partners; and 4) Disseminating program materials and information to other healthcare entities throughout Georgia and the U.S. through local workshops and presentations at national healthcare conferences.

Globally, the retention of skilled medical staff in health care sector has been a serious concern to management due to higher turnover of medics. The desired critical measures for retention strategies of medics need to be done to sustain competition among health care providers. The purpose of this study was to analyse of employee retention strategies on organizational performance of hospitals in Mombasa County. The study was guided by the following objectives; to analyse the relationship between recruitment strategies and organizational performance, to examine the extent to which supervision strategies affects organization performance,. The study employed descriptive correlational research design. Target populations of 102 respondents, the study had a sample size of 102 respondents all drawn from senior staff in the County’s ministry of health department. Sampling procedure will be census. Semi-structured Questionnaire will be used, Likert five point scale questionnaire will be used, factoring Strongly Agree to Strongly Disagree. Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was used to measure the reliability of the questionnaire. Data was analysed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis was used to measure the relationship between variables. Data was presented in cumulative frequency tables. The finding the study were The relationship between recruitment strategies and organization performance of public hospitals in Mombasa County was found to be positive and significant in that its R was 0.485 and had a p-value less than 0.05 (ε= 0.006). The regression results revealed that supervision strategies effect on performance was statistically significant (overall p-value = 0.036).The study concluded that all the employee retention strategies need to be improved because they have been found to have a positive and significant effect on organizational performance. The study recommended that the management of public hospitals in Mombasa County should improve on employee retention strategies because they have been found by this study to have a positive effect on the organizational performance

The amount of time spent in a health state is weighted by the utility score given to that health state. It takes one year of perfect health (utility score of 1) to generate one QALY, whereas one year in a health state valued at 0.5 is regarded as being equivalent to half a QALY. Thus, an intervention that generates four additional years in a health state valued at 0.75 will generate one more QALY than an intervention that generates four additional years in a health state valued at 0.5. Abstract: Retention possesses an essential spot and position inside the entire administration process. This component is utilized productively for swaying staff to make positive commitment for accomplishing organizational goals. Retention is vital, as individual temperament needs some kind of prompting, consolation or motivation to give higher execution. Over the past 5yrs, the rate of nursing staff leaving their jobs has been 40% annually and this has continued to be a problem affecting the delivery of health services. Motivation of employee's therefore, offers numerous edges to the Organization and also to the staff. Hence this study sought to establish the factors affecting retention of health workers in the health sector and especially nurses in the health department of Transnzoia County Government. The study was guided by the following objectives; - to determine the factors that affect nurse retention in the Health sector of Transnzoia County Government, to find out the effects of job satisfaction on nurse retention in the Health sector of Transnzoia County Government and to establish the effect of retention programs in the health sector of Transnzoia County Government. The design used for this study is the descriptive method. The targeted sample for this study comprised of senior management nurses as well as junior management nurses at the hospitals, health centers and dispensaries within Transnzoia County. The total population of nurses currently stands at three hundred and twenty. A sample size of one seventy five members was selected by using random sampling method. Both primary and secondary sources of data were used during the study. The procedures for collection of data for this study were basically questionnaires and interviews. Data collected using the questionnaires was edited for clarity and then frequency tables drawn to show the final results using Pearson product-Moment Coefficient correlation and Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) software. The SPSS was used to analyze the information gathered which was used in development of charts and graphs. It is therefore important to understand personal premises and key retention factors anchored on contemporary nursing management practices with identifiable indicators.

The existing precedence of many healthcare facilities is to reduce readmissions using post-discharge follow-up practices. The definitive objective of health care providers is to deliver high-quality health care services to patients using transitional care models. The methodologies encourage the use of appropriate outpatient follow-up appointments implemented through Medicare incentives to promote the reduction in hospital readmissions (Adib-Hajbaghery, Maghaminejad & Abbasi, 2013). Comment by Editor: Setting of margins required Many of the researchers analyzing the outcome of follow-up on outpatients in reducing hospital readmissions majors on particular illnesses in a state; hence it is shallow. The review indicates that outpatient follow-ups decrease sickle cell anemia, pediatric asthma, and heart failure patient readmission (Hasan et al., 2010; Alper, 2017). However, there is an indication of mixed results obtained from examinations on hospitalized individuals. One study carried out by the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission demonstrated that there is no relationship between the timing of outpatient follow-up, and 30-day readmission rate in discharged patients from medical facilities (Ferrandino et al., 2017). (2017), the readmission of roughly a half of the Medicaid receivers countrywide is within 30 days of discharge, and they fail to get a follow-up on outpatient before readmission. Equally, patients readmitted for chronic illnesses recorded a decrease in outpatient follow-up. It implies that the use of timely follow-ups to decrease the rates of readmi.

Preventive healthcare is unlike healthcare for a cute ailments, as people are less alert to their unknown medical problems.In order to motivate public and to attain desired participation levels for preventive programs,the attractiveness of the healthcare facility is a major concern.Health economics literature indicates that attractiveness to a facility is significantly influenced by proximity of the clients to it.Hence attractiveness is generally modeled as a function of distance.However, abundant empirical evidence suggests that other qualitative factors such as perceived quality, attractions nearby, amenities, etc. also influence attractiveness. Therefore, are alistic measures hould in corporate the vagueness in the concept of attractiveness to the model.The public policymakers should also maintain the equity among various neighborhoods, which should be considered as a second objective.Finally, even though general tendency in the literature is to focus on health benefits,the cost effectiveness is still a factor that should be considered.In this paper,a fuzzy bi-objective model with budget constraints of the problem is developed.Later,by modelling the attractiveness by means of fuzzy triangular numbers and treating the budget constraint as a soft constraint, a modified (and more realistic)version of the model is introduced. ABSTRACT:Nurse staffing is an important component in determining patient care quality and satisfaction. This study was aimed at assessing the effect of nurse staffing on quality of care and patient satisfaction in the medical and surgical wards in the public hospitals in Fako.This retrospective and analytic cross-sectional study used the hospital administrative data to gather staffing information (the number of nurses, the nursing staff constitution) and data was collected from patients in the medical and surgical wards in public hospitals in Fako using an adapted “Karen-patient instrument for measuring quality of care” and the “Patient Satisfaction with Nursing Care Quality Questionnaire” over a period of 2 months. The probability proportionate to size sampling was applied to get the appropriate sample size. Data collected was analysed using SPSS version 25.The overall nurse to patient ratio was 1:9.2.Based on the mean score, 47.1% of patients had good quality of nursing care while 52.9% had poor quality of nursing care. Half of the participants (50.4%) were satisfied with the overall nursing services while 49.6% were not satisfied. There was a significant relationship between mean patient to nurse ratio and quality of care as well as patient satisfaction (p<0.001 and p=0.02 respectively).The overall nurse to patient ratio was 1:9.2. The overall quality of nursing care was poor and patient satisfaction was moderate. The study found a relationship between staffing and quality of care as well as patient satisfaction. In BC’s nearly-decade-old “new” curriculum, the curricular competencies describe the processes that students are expected to develop in areas of learning such as mathematics. They reflect the “Do” in the “Know-Do-Understand” model. Under the “Communicating” header falls the curricular competency “Explain and justify mathematical ideas and decisions.” Note that it contains two processes: “Explain mathematical ideas” and “Justify mathematical decisions.” I have broken it down into its separate parts in order to understand--or reveal--its meaning. The first part is commonplace in classrooms. By now, BC math teachers—and students—understand that “Explain mathematical ideas” means more than “Show your work.” Teachers consistently ask “What did you do?” and “How do you know?” This process is about retelling, not just of steps but of thinking. The second part happens less frequently. Think back to the last time that you observed a student make—a necessary precursor to justify—a mathematical decision. “Justify” is about defending. Like “explain,” it involves reasoning; unlike “explain,” it also involves opinion and debate. In order to reinterpret the curricular competency “Explain and justify mathematical ideas and decisions,” I will continue to take apart its constituent part “Justify mathematical decisions” and carefully examine the term “mathematical decisions.” What, exactly, is a “mathematical decision”? Below, I will categorize answers to this question. These categories, and the provided examples, may help to suggest new opportunities for students to justify.
