FROM APPLICATION TO INSCRIPTION
27. 1. The element belongs to one or more categories of
intangible heritage, according to Article 9 of the Act
for the Protection of Cultural Heritage;
2. The element is in accordance with international
human rights instruments, requires mutual respect
between communities and is in harmony with
sustainable development;
3. The community has identified the element as part of
its cultural heritage;
4. The element gives the community and individuals a
sense of identity and continuity;

28. 5. The element is part of the community and is transmitted
and constantly recreated;
6. The element contributes to the diversity of the ICH in the
Register, testifying to cultural diversity and human
creativity;
7. The element is submitted with the free, prior and informe
consent of the community concerned following the
participation of the community at all stages of
identification, definition, documentation and nomination;
8. The above-mentioned consent of the community
concerned is accompanied by appropriate documentation
and feasible safeguarding measures according to the
official Application Form for proposal to Establilsh the
Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

festivals, talks, workshops, open days and other

Secondary School in Oroslavje

included in the curriculum of the Secondary Crafts

46. •ICH was included in a textbook to be promoted
among schoolchildren as part of extra-curricular
activities.
•In 2011, the UNESCO Handbook on world
heritage, “World Heritage in Young Hands” was
presented to the public
•The Handbook contains the first list ever
published in Croatia of all tangible and
intangible elements of cultural and natural
heritage listed by UNESCO
•The Handbook is intended to help teachers
prepare lesson plans and raise awareness
among young people of the need to safeguard
these elements.
