Having verified the mutual interest the University of Firenze (Italy) and J. Nehru Architecture
and Fine Arts University (India) share in establishing this exchange program in the fields of
Architecture and Urban Planning.
The aim of this Program is to create a common base to cooperate in contemporary design
issues, applying in cutting edge methodologies and tools.
Sustainablity focus throughout the full lifecycle of a construction project can be a challenging
design exercise both for European and Indian students as well.
Courses and studies involved in the Program use methodologies and tools that facilitate
carbon assessment of a building, by improving project information and making designers
more aware on their decisions, by allowing them to explore alternatives and evaluate the
impact of their technical solutions throughout the building life-cycle.

SCOPE OF THE WORKSHOP
Context:
The workshop will focus on the design of Green Building. JNAFAU is asked to suggest themes and case
studies of real-world application.
Given the varied profiles of students and academics involved, the workshop will be far-reaching. We were
inspired by the experience of the successful series of seminars organized by the Observatory of PhD
programs in Architectural Technology (OSDOTTA).
Main Green Building topics
Water Efficiency
Regional Materials
Social Sustainability
Life Cycle Design
Final product:
A competition-style panel + a PPT presentation, Prezi or short film; accompanied by concise explanatory
text to be transformed later in a report by the rapporteur.
